Why Didn't You Renew Your AP?

It seems that there are many people here that are like myself and have decided to opt out of the AP program even thought they remain huge Disneyland fans. But I was wondering what their reasons were. Here are my 3 main reasons

1. Burnout- yep I just got burnt out on the park. I was a cast member from 85-88, an AP holder from 89-00 and again from 02-04, visiting at least once a week and I just got tired of the place (I know that's considered heresy here)

2. Ease of Visiting- once the old parking lot was torn out for DCA it became much more of an ordeal to just park and get in. Most summer nights pre-DCA you usually could park within 100 yards of the main gate and just stroll in, now it's a long walk or dealing with the parking structure and the trams.

3. Crowds- enough said, this has been debated a million times here. But let's face it, the park is usually packed now and that causes more trash, dirty restrooms etc.

So that's why I'm not an AP holder anymore, and I was always a premium or premium type passholder the entire time I had a pass. I still visit occasionally, usually around the holidays, but I just by a one day ticket. So if you didn't renew your pass, Why not?

My pass is due to expire in a few days and I will not be renewing (right away). My main reason for not renewing is that this next year both myself and my GF will be very busy and just wouldn't be able to get away. However, there is the argument that if we had passes than we would probably make time to hit up D-land.

With that in mind I would have to say that all the construction that is going on right now plays a big part as well in our decision to not renew.

If i had an AP right now and was in SoCal, i would NOT buy an AP, nor would i suggest it to friends.. Overcrowding just.. sucks.. nothing fun about New years eve at the parks all summer, and old summer days taking over the "off season" in terms of crowds.. i'd much rather go once a year in a LESS crowded park then go 12-13 times a year and it be so crowded there is an hour wait for the darn tea cups! Would you not agree?

my main reason, the payment plan they started and all the ramifications that came with. I will not deal with it.

If disney gives up the payment plans I may consider going back for a day trip, but I would wait to buy a pass. Maybe if they learn how to manage the park without their off the cuff decsion making...short term seems to be their only goal right now.

I contemplated not renewing, but I have a 2 year old granddaughter and she loves to ride IASW. I'm doing it for her.

The crowds are quite staggering but it's the rudeness that will eventually drive me away. I agree with stopping the payment plan and see how it plays out.

I am very surprised that price was not one of the top three. I seriously contemplated renewing my pass and I decided I was going to.

The reason i almost didnt is because the person i used to go with is undergoing basic training so i dont really go that often. While 440 is steep to renew my pass I still am going to do it just incase i find a new disney buddy

I don't think the pass is expensive. It could easily go up another $200+ and still be a bargain. However, the way they choose to sell their passes seems to be making disneyland a bargaqin basement venue. It almsot reminds me of walmart on black friday at times.

The only reason why I didn't renew is because I no longer live in California and they don't let you make payments unless you live in state.

I was close to not renewing my pass because I am pretty busy with school and work. Since i renewed in August, I've only visited once for a couple of hours. I'm hoping I will make up for it in the holiday season, but if I continue to be busy I probably wont renew next year. Or at least downgrade, right now I have the premium pass. No monthly payments.

I had experiemented with a Premium for a year, but have found the crowds too tough to deal with a little one. Next year, it will be more expensive for me since I'll have to get a pass for him too. Can't justify the added expense for the experience I'm getting, even if I am a local. Will probably cut back to a visit once or twice a year. The passes seem geared more to teens and young adults that just want to hang out at the park, or do the fast pass rides, than families who want to delve into the experience.

I got VERY VERY CLOSE. After school, I pulled almost 600 bucks out of my bank to renew, I got as far as to parking in DTD to renew, but something got over me, and I didn't. I am not sure, but I started my car and pulled out of there. I think the price had something to do with it.
