They could if people paid to enter DCA for it. Not sure what Disney's take of the sales was, or if it was just a flat fee per day.
No kidding. Usually around that time of year, non-APs might have already gone to DCA because of the 2-Fer deal, and don't find the Food and Wine festival enough of an incentive to come back so soon. Instead of trying to squeeze the public by having unrealistic expectations, Disney should have had both events going at the same time...then more people would have spent money on the festival.
Seems like they could easily move it but bureaucratically with different departments that takes more time and coordinating to do than organizing something in the same location as the previous years. Alternate locations might already be booked by private events at this point.
I don't doubt it's doable.. just would take some executive shoving.
The decision to Postpone the festival had been lurking the halls of TDA for a while.
The amount of walls that will be up in most of the entrance area was their concern for 2011. I am surprised about 2012 but there might be some scheduling conflicts they might be concerned about since the food and wine would have fallen around the time when preparations for the HUGE promotional event for BVS and Carsland will take place.
The Food and Wine Festival is suppose to come back strong though in 2013 hopefully then they will do a better job in re-introducing the new festival with more locations added included the new eateries in BVS.
I do think that the should take advantage of the 2012 relaunch of the Food and Wine Festival and also combine it with a DCA version of the Flower and Garden Festival. It would give the event a bigger punch and it could be planned and run simultaneously. All the new garden areas that DCA will have in BVS as well as Paradise Pier make the perfect locations for an colorful event
Hollywoodland has the millionaire building, Flynn's arcade/ the last stop bar, they could also do a show where the Mickey's Dance party/Laserman show is. I say make ti a smaller even and move it to Hollywoodland.
Per Disneyland blog. No Food & Wine festival in 2011 and 2012
While we are extremely excited with all of the progress to date, we have had to make some changes to accommodate our growth, and today we want to let you know we will not be hosting the 2011 and 2012 Disney’s California Food & Wine Festivals in Disney California Adventure park. This was not an easy decision, but expansion work over the next two years in some areas of the park present significant logistical challenges around scheduling the hundreds of festival offerings.
Is there more to the quote because technically it says that they're not hosting it in DCA, not that it is not being hosted at all.
I will miss the F&W festival. It was a great excuse to treat myself to one of the special nights at Steak House 55. Just think of all the money I can save between now and 2013! No hotel room expenses for 2 years and will hold off on renewing my AP.
I know it was very popular. So with all respect and just my two bits, I love good food and wine, neither of which I found at the Food and Wine Festival, save for the private winery dinners at Napa Rose, which are incredibly good. And for Sir Didymus, who's turning 21, if you want a truly great food and wine experience, just go to Napa Rose and let them work their magic for you.
