California Screamin': What i think needs to happen

    So, California Screamin'.

What can I say? Awesome, smooth ride!

    But what about the theming?

    WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN:

Station (boarding, unloading) and line re-model.

    Vehicles.

    Soundtrack.

    STATION:

So, here I changed the name. Yeah, Paradise Dipper. But, with Harris's new launch warning voice, i figured the name wasn't such a big deal.

I had an idea to have the que indoors, that way it could hold "Hall of coasters", a walk-by museum of the history of classic Boardwalk roller coasters.

Stand-by enters straight in, fast pass goes around and meshes with sand-by inside the Hall of Coasters.

Above the bridge thats above the first boarding/unloading station is just a striped canopy to add a nice touch.

The staircase next to the elevator would be spiraled, again, to add a nice touch.

    VEHICLES:

I really don't have a detailed input on the new vehicles, but they would all just have a basic Paradise Pier color scheme with the Pier's logo on the leading car.

    SOUNDTRACK:

(BTW: NPH's voice is an amazing addition!)

but, heavy metal does not fit a Victorian theme.

Lots of people have made videos with ragtime, beachboys, and other songs added to the ride, but they really never seem to go well with the ride's speed. So, I think a new soundtrack should be done.

well, thanks for reading, and you have any ideas, please post them!

First of all, very nice drawing!

And I think the queue is fine, but they do need to repaint the cars a different color. Yes, they look cool when the shoot off at first, but they are too bright when the cars are just sitting there.

Also, I would find a Beach Boys soundtrack to match perfectly! Or maybe have a few tracks that the ride randomly cycles through. That way you don't really learn the patterns of the songs.

I like it! Your design for the queue is great. Let's hope to see something like this in the future. The name Paradise Dipper has a nice ring to it.

By Hall of Coasters, do you mean something like what they have for Soarin'?

    Exactly, same basis.

I figured they would have pictures of the coaster from Coney Island, ect.

I would love them doing this! Give us a little bit of reasoning behind some of the roller coasters. And maybe the inspiration behind California Screamin'.

Cool drawing and you've got a real nice stylistic view of how it should be.

Personally I don't like the historical things on rides (a la Soarin' queue) as it tends to take you out of the themed environment that has been crafted (thats my hypothesis anyway).

    Otherwise great stuff!

I posted this in the DCA Project Tracker, but I'll pose the question here as well:

Would 'Victorian' or 'Ragtime' music really be as exciting as the current 'rock' soundtrack?

It is hardly heavy metal. You stated that existing videos of ragtime, Beach Boys, etc. music doesn't fit the speed of the attraction - how would a newly composed score done in traditional 'Victorian' or 'Ragtime' fashion fit?

I'm all for making the theming as great as possible, but this just feels like excessive whining. But, by all means - someone compose some Ragtime music that fits the speed and excitement of "Screamin'" and change my mind.

I bet eventually thell change out the soundrack, but what needs to be done immediately is a re-landscape of the area under the roller coaster, repainting, classic lights on the track and inside the scream tubes. Then a que re-theme.

Well see what they do, until Little mermaid gets open they are not going to close that E ticket ride.

I'm pretty sure they could pull off a victorian or ragtime soundtrack that would fit the ride. But, I'm okay with the soundtrack right now, only because it has hints of carnival fanfare in it (lift hill, up and down bumps near the end).
I just don't think Heavy metal was around during the "turn of the century".

The soundtrack alone is great! I listen to it all the time.

    I love your idea!

How about if they gave each actual coaster train a name that references other coasters? You could easily change the decals.

    Just some they could use:
    The Cyclone
    The Giant Dipper
    The Whippersnapper
    The Comet
    The Pike

While I agree a new soundtrack would be great, I concur that ragtime probably doesn't fit the pace of the ride. How about something more orchestral? A la the first space mountain soundtrack in Paris.

Here's a link to refresh your memory.
YouTube - Space Mountain: De la Terre la Lune - Ride Score | Disneyland Paris Musique

More fitting perhaps, there is a terrible broadway musical thats a sequel to Phantom of the Opera. It's set in a Paradise Pier Setting. Here's that overture with some images. It doesn't work persay... but maybe the mood does.

YouTube - Coney Island Waltz from "Love Never Dies" Phantom Sequel

    I love your notions though!
