Proposing at Disneyland - Ideas and Suggestions, Por Favor!

A good friend of mine is taking his girlfriend of many years to Disneyland from the 13th to the 17th of December and is planning on proposing to her. He asked me to help think of some ideas on how to do it and so I'm turning to you guys for suggestions. She is a huge Disneyland fanatic btw so the more magical, the better.

How private do they want this to be? The wishing well is always a good choice and so is sleeping beauty's castle. Who is her fav character, perhaps if it is a face character he/she could get in on it and help.

Proposed to my sweetheart at the Wishing Well....

It totally took her by surprise because all though she knew something was up, she thought it would be a day later as we had plans to eat at the Blue Bayou the next night

If he wants to spend some money to have a privet proposal, I have read a man called diney(I think special events or dinning) and got a privet balcony at the Grand. I think he had a full meal set up for them. It was really cute. there are photo of it on line somewhere.

I think more than anything, he just wants it to be a worthy Disneyland proposal. It doesn't have to be extravagant, just something that is unique to the parks. Her favorite character and princess is Ariel. :]

That sounds incredible but I think he wants to stay in the parks, preferably Disneyland. :]

my preference would be the wishing well. I've heard of people doing it on rides - like Peter Pan for instance. I personally find that a little distracting... but, hey, for some it works! Maybe it would for them too!

Re: Proposing at Disneyland - Ideas and Suggestions, Por Favor!

My friend proposed at Disneyland, when we contacted them to plan it out they sent us this wonderful document with some great ideas:

    Disney’s Fairy Tale Engagements
    Ideas that inspire romance!

    Disneyland Park

    Fantasmic Premium Viewing
Mickey battles Evil and conjures Good in a musical pyrotechnic spectacular on the Rivers of America. Special reserved seating is located between French Market and Rivers of America in New Orleans Square. Includes dessert sampler for adults and a dessert Mickey Mouse cup for children (ages 3-9 yrs). For reservations and prices, call (714) 781-4400 up to 30 days in advance. Maximum of 50 seats available. Prices are in addition to theme park entry.

Romantic Dinner at the Blue Bayou
As boats from the Pirates of the Caribbean drift by this perpetually moonlit plantation setting, you can dine on appetizers, salads, sandwiches, seafood, chicken and beef dishes prepared with a New Orleans flair. After a wonderful lunch or dinner the groom-to-be orders the Crème Brûlée for dessert. The groom has pre-arranged with the server to have the bride’s engagement ring hidden in the dessert’s edible treasure chest. When she opens it she sees the ring and the groom gets down on one knee and asks for her hand. The happy couple then enjoys a dessert they will remember forever. You can try this suggestion or discreetly ask your server for others. For reservations and prices, call Disney Dining (714) 781-DINE.

    Guest Favorite Attraction
Find your favorite attraction and make it a romantic atmosphere!
    (i.e. Pirates of the Caribbean)

    Mickey’s House in Toontown
A self guided tour with a unique photo opportunity to meet Mickey!

    Wishing Well
    (next to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle)
Listen to the songs of Snow White in this tranquil setting while leaning over the magical wishing well.

    An Engagement Sketch
Sketch artists in both parks, in Disneyland in New Orleans Square and in Disney’s California Adventure (“Drawn to the Magic”) on the waterfront across from Golden Dreams, can assist many future grooms in creating very special proposals. The future groom enlists the artist’s help in advance so that when he and his future bride arrive for their portraits the artist will be sketching a picture of the future groom proposing to his future bride.

At the appropriate time the artist would ask the future bride to assist him in finishing the picture. When she sees the picture it has a text balloon over the boyfriend’s head that says, “Will you marry me?” and an empty text balloon over the future bride’s head. Then, of course, is the perfect time for the future groom to drop to his knee and propose to her, the artist fills in the balloon and they have a sweet memento of the occasion. For pricing, guests may contact artists by calling Rubio Artists: 714-991-1527.

    Disney’s California Adventure

    Disney’s Electrical Parade Premium Viewing
Enjoy the dazzling twinkling spectacular featuring half a million colored light bulbs. Special reserved seating includes appetizers consisting of meats, cheeses and bread. When I worked at World of Disney at Disneyland, someone once brought the ring to the collectibles area and asked that the ring be put in our jewelry display case at the set time for him to bring his soon-to-be by so he could show her the ring and pop the question. Might try that since staff is pretty understanding about moments like that.

I've seen someone propose after the fireworks in front of the castle, that would be my ideal time to do pop the question.

I read about a guy once who did it on Splash Mountain with the help of some friends. His girlfriend sat in front while he and the friends sat behind her. As they were going over the drop and the picture was taken the guys held up signs that said "----- will you marry me?" So when they came around the corner and their picture popped up, there was the proposal. I thought that was pretty clever.

All of these are so romantic! I'm going on my trip in a couple day and would LOVE it if my boyfriend proposed, I'm not holding my breath though!

I think that proposing in the middle/ or towards the end of the fireworks would be so magical and romantic.

Sounds funny but I have seen a couple sitting getting their face caricatured and the artists put will u marry me and showed it to the her and the groom got on his knee.

I also have seen proposals on Main Street and pretty much every where around the park.

Funny I always thought it would be cute getting proposed to in front of the castle while posing for a picture with a character, Or being proposed to with a clever disney twist.

The mailbox below I remember a couple stopped and took a photo there and the guy joked lets see if anything important was in there and he pulled out a letter that started a scavenger hunt.

He can take her to the wishing well and give her a coin and ask her to make a wish...when she does he should say"do u want to know what my wish is?" she will say yes and he should say "my wish is to make you my wife" or "my wish is to spend the rest of my life with you" and pull out the ring (:

or he can do something like this:

    YouTube - Proposal at Disneyland

^^^^the artist is in on it and draws the man on one Knee with a diamond ring asking" will you marry me" and the girl is drawn saying "yes"

No matter what, have him talk to Disney, they're quite good at it, (both phone, and if you can get there eariler, stopping into City hall) I know someone who did it at WDW, they were blown away how Disney was able to make sure things were perfect, suggesting the best times and places... (he chose Cinderella's Wishing well at Magic Kingdom), and magically a photographer appeared to take a photo, who didn't seem to be there before, and didn't get in the way (basically Disney is GOOD at this stuff). He joked how they were able to run it like some kind of CIA operation... was very impressed.

    And on top... no charge.
