I got a message through my YouTube account a few days ago from a SoCal ad agency. They're assisting Disney with their "Let the Memories Begin" campaign and have apparently been scouring the Internet for authentic (i.e., not staged so your family can get on TV) video about Disneyland and Walt Disney World. They came across one of my childhood home movies and asked me if I'd consider letting them use some of the footage for an upcoming commercial. Didn't have to think about that one for long.
This is the video. The segments Disney's interested in start at 3:48:
At this point, there's no guarantee they'll use the footage (they'll still send me a gift for my trouble), but I was told by the ad rep that my video was on a "short list" of material being considered.
If you haven't seen a "Memories" commercial already, here's an example:
It may turn out to be only my 5 seconds of fame, but I'm kind of excited about it.
Stay tuned . . .
