    How crowded in October?

Am planning for a big family trip to take two youngsters (8 and 6) for the first time. Thinking of October as a "quiet" time, but now it sounds like the "Halloween Time" thing makes for crowds that rival summer. Is that just on weekends? Would we be better off in September?

Sept should be slower. HM will be closed for the holiday install.
Here's a previous thread on the subject: How are the crowds in October???

This year October was really crowded, especially on weekends, more so than any other I can remember.

In addition to the Halloween Time events (Like Haunted Mansion Holiday drawing HUGE CROWDS), you also get to deal with the annual meetups for the Mormon days, Gay days and whatever else, after the September refurb the clean up from the summer havok.

So...is everything down for refurb in September? We didn't get to ride TSMM or HMH this year and we went the week before the HMH opened....would it be the same next year?

Yeah. I mean, not everything is guaranteed to be down, but September is when crowds are lower, because school is in session, so there's time to give attention to what needs it.
But these are usually known a month or two in advance. So you can check yourself. It's USUALLY about a week for the general touch-ups, so you have some flexibility still.

October, any day of the week was a madhouse this year. Disneyland closed early a couple of weekdays each week for the special entry parties, and because the entire month is a big Halloween party - on top of everything else - I think September is the best bet.

Be advised - there is almost NO time when some attraction or attractions are down for overlay or refurbishment. Just go with it, and plan to come again. Check which attractions are or will be down online...
