Disney announces "Family Fun Weekends" at Disneyland January 14 to March 6

Disney announced a series of five "Family Fun Weekends" at the Disneyland Resort from January 14 to March 6 via a promotional ticket giveaway tonight on the Disney Parks Blog.

The contest winners correctly identified the five weekend themes included in a video posted on the Blog.

The five Family Fun Weekend themes are:

Fiesta Disneyland


Kickin' Country Weekend


Character Fan Days


Lunar New Year Festival


Mardi Gras

So perhaps, its Fiesta DL on 1/14 - 1/16, then Kickin' Country Weekend on 1/21 - 1/23, then Character Fan Days on 1/28 - 1/30, then Lunar NY Festival on 2/4 - 2/6 (following Chinese NY on 2/3) and then nothing until Mardi Gras on 3/4 - 3/6 (just before Fat Tuesday on 3/8)? Maybe they will bring back some of the Party Gras floats for the last one! -- Suzanne

New information has been released by the Disney Parks Blog today -

Do you like fiestas, hoedowns, Mardi Gras, Lunar New Year and Disney Characters? Then you won’t want to miss the next eight weekends at Disneyland park. We’re calling them “Family Fun Weekends” and they run Jan. 14 through March 6.

Families know they can find magic and excitement whenever they visit Disneyland Resort, and the next eight weekends will offer a special reason to play at Disneyland park.

“Family Fun Weekends” are themed events that invite guests to enjoy music, dancing, and special food and merchandise, along with a chance to meet and take photos with some Disney characters in specially themed attire. This weekend, for example, Fiesta Mickey and Minnie Mouse will greet you at Festival Arena in colorful, folklorico attire.

Disney Parks recently had several polls to see which character we would like to see on the Character Fan Days. You'll get to see the characters in the Festival Arena next to BTRB. Check the results here.

Was just curious if anyone attended the character weekend? If so which characters were out? Also read about this too little too late so was just curious if anyone thought they would be offering these again next year? Thank You.
