Why does Indy break down so often?

I've always wondered why this happens. I know Space Mountain and other larger rides with large capacities break down often because they have to get cars in and out of the station in a short time, and sometimes they can't do that so they have to stop it, but it seems like Indiana Jones breaks down much more often than other high-capacity rides.

Indy is an extremely complicated attraction. The ride system is extremely advanced, even for today's standards. Combine this with all the huge effects and other systems that keep the attraction going, the chances of it all going MIA are very high.

Yes, Indy break down pretty often, but for such an advanced ride system, it is pretty reliable.

I also believe it hasn't been closed for a long refurbishment since it's opened I bet that would do wonders.

    This.

Indy deserves a nice long refurb for some TLC and to work out the kinks.

Even though I never go on this ride cause I'm not a rollercoster person I have also have hear the same reason the ride hasn't had a very good long refurb. From what I have hear it's never been close down send it first came out. I agree with alot of people hear IAJ needs a very long refurb like a year and a half at less and not a 2 to a week long refurb. I had hear couble of years ago when CA had that big 5.3 earthquake and after Disney when to check on how things where they did a test run on it one of the cars flew right off the tracks and hit right in a wall. So I really think it is time for IJ to close down before somebody get very hurt.

Bugs get into the engine, hot lava corrodes the tires, dust clogging the gears, skeletons falling onto the vehicle, hit by laser beams.....

LOL. You forgot bad drivers too.

Anyway, A refurb at best can insure that the show effects and emvs operate better. But the frequency of it going down due to any technical difficulties wouldn't change no matter how long the refurb lasts. It's been pretty reliable as Disneylandfan95 said. Show elements, they can fix in a couple of days. It's the EMVs that should get the refurb. The vehicles cause half of the breakdowns that happen. A month or 2 should do to refurb most of the jeeps.

I think adding a loop would do the trick.

^I know its a bad joke, but I'm left wondering how the suggestion of adding a loop to a ride would make it run better?

I don't know the most often way it breaks down but I know if station backup occurs then the EMVs can overheat due to the hydraulics and the motors. Which can cause a vehicle to stop working due to overheating. Its just a very very complex ride simply put.

duct tape wasn't invented until the 1940's and since the theme is 1938 WDI was unable to design a way to quickly repair the attraction.
