It's been said that the ride is going to last for about six and a half minutes. So, I would imagine about the same speed as Haunted Mansion.

I like the one with the nice queue, big giftshop, and meet n greet. oh also the hanging shells like Peter Pan it would of been more fun.
Eh that kind of seems like over kill for a dark ride to have a themed queue, meet and greet, and connected shop, plus the ride looks shorter in that version.

Just wanted to point out that one of the possible layouts indicates a Pooh's Hunny Hunt style ride like the concept art in the new Imagineering book.

i've a feeling that the wdw will be more big of a deal than the dca one. they should have everything u said.
ok then. this is the final one. it does'nt even show the queue and no giftshop.

this is the second to the last version. I like this one because the ride is one minute longer and the track holds 122 instead of 104 calm shells. plus it makes more sense to have the entrance under the big stained glass. and the giftshop is under the dome.

I'm pretty sure that it has only been orange, green and finally orange again. I never heard about the yellow.

I'm sure that there are really good reasons for the changes that were made which we can't make out throughout the various revisions.

Re: Disney California Adventure Project Tracker XI

I'm guessing that they had to go with their final version of Mermaid for various reasons:

There's not a whole lotta space between Paradise Park and the Grand Californian so the ride layout had to be as condensed as possible. There would be no need for shops or meet and greets since Ariel is getting representation on both sides of the lagoon. A TLM shop could easily be set up on the other side where there is room and Ariel will probably do meet in greets at the restaurant.

Also after watching the video with suspended cars, it would've provided the ride a nice feel of floating in the water. At the same time I can see why the grounded cars were probably necessary. First off, suspended cars would've required a ceiling track, when you go from above the sea to below and back up again the tracks would ruin that illusion because you wind up seeing the tracks ahead of you. Peter Pan can get away with it because the ride is for the most part lights off and everything requires you're attention by looking down, not looking ahead. Suspended cars would've compromised audience perspective. Omnimover shell cars is a simpler approach and unlike Peter Pan no spacing between cars is required so there is more ride capacity. And chances are high the ride capacity for this ride is going to be huge. I'm not gonna mind this as long as the final result is good.

That's very interesting, could u post a pic with the layout and cars pointed out? I'm glad to hear they're considering it but I don't think that it would have between a good fit.

And to toonasapie I think it would be possible to do a suspended omni mover but it would lose the sense of flying or floating that would have been the goal.

Edit: Yup horizons was a suspended ride.
