The What is Better About Disneyland Today Thread

Just like it sounds everybody. I was looking at some old pictures of the Jungle Cruise yesterday, and instantly thought how much better it is today! The plants and trees are thick and tall, and it's just how you would imagine a real jungle would be. So, I think it's better now, and has improved over the years. Any other fun thoughts??

The Castle is better than before, Main Street is as clean as it will get, Space Mountain is more high tech and of course the New Snow White Effects look great.

PS DCA is much better than it was when it opened

Well if we're comparing the modern day era of DL with Walt's era the biggest improvement would have to be the retheming of Fantasyland from the medieval fair setting to an old European style village.

    Space Mountain
    Effects on Snow White
Haunted Mansion to some degree (Constance debate being left out, a lot of effects have been tinkered with and improved over the years)
    IMO Tom Sawyer Island/Pirates Cove
    Fantasyland as a whole

Actually it was Bear Country that replaced the Indian Village. Splash Mountain (and Critter Country) replaced Bear Country. But I'm sure you knew that.

The Matterhorn is finally part of a land (the land in this case is Fantasy.)
More access(I.e. to walk around the park.)

Definitely ditto on all three of those!

The transformation of the architecture of Paradise Pier has truly been night and day. As far as I can tell, the addition of themed interiors to the Matterhorn was a very positive thing, and I even like the little crystal tableau that was later added when the Skyway went to Yesterland.

Re: The What is Better About Disneyland Today Thread

Walt said that he EXPECTED Disneyland to get better and better each year. I am old enough to remember being in the park when he was still live. There was a special attitude by CM's in that day which is gone now. However, much of Disneyland HAS continued to improve, more than just the landscaping. There are many areas, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland (remember the new Tomorrowland opened after Walt's death), Critter Country, ToonTown, and so on which were not there in the original Walt era. Also some innovations such as one price admission and Fastpass which have improved the park a lot. In the first decade after his death, I think every addition to Disneyland turned out as an improvement. After that, there were definitely mistakes by management. But I prefer not to look to the past, but focus on the future. With John Lasseter firmly in charge, I see continued improvements to both parks.

A lot more rides than in 1955. I also agree with the landscaping growth since the day. Improvements in audio animatronics, such as Abraham Lincoln. A couple more places to eat where someone will come to your table to take your order (I think).

This is only my opinion but - the additions to Small World and Pirates.
    Fantasyland
    Monorails
    Space Mountain
Adventureland (minus a certain restaurant and treehouse)
    BLAB replacing Circle*Vision/Rocket Rods queue
    Captain EO's return
Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln is better than ever! (can't say the same about attendance!)
    Splash Mountain
    New castle decorations
