Carnation Cafe and the Bakery will supposedly be undergoing changes next year

I was told by a server at Carnation Cafe yesterday that there will be some changes made to the Carnation Cafe and Bakery either late this year or early next year. Supposedly the Bakery will be moved to the Plaza Pavilion and the Carnation Cafe will use the current Bakery location as indoor seating. Anybody else hear anything about this? Seems like a good idea to me.

What wasn't a good idea though was changing the gravy on the Meatloaf Stack. While it's still...good...it's not great like it used to be. I wasn't quite sure how to explain it initially, but the same server who described the changes above said it's now more of a sauce than a gravy and that's pretty much exactly what it is. Anyway, the Meatloaf Stack is still good, but not as good as it used to be.

If it brings indoor seating that would be welcome change!

I like the idea of expanding the restaurant. As for the Bakery, I only hope that they improve on the quality of the baked goods in the new location, it's always seemed substandard to me.

So AP processing will be moving?
Would they be closing the pass through for the bakery & gibson girl?

So there's the rumor of bringing meet and get to gardens
And now the bakery to the Pavilions

I like the bakery where's it is,
    but then again,
I don't remember the original way.
    Listening to others comments,
    sounds nice.
And if the bakery moves and the product can improve....total win.

There was something in Al's last post about changes to the AP system that would allow Disney to practically close AP processing... due to the fact that they would no longer issue cards on a yearly basis because they are changing to the biometric scanning at both DL and DCA.

I would also assume that the opening between the bakery and Gibson Girl would become a new entry area. to the Carnation Cafe where you would be seated by the hostess.

The proposed changes would be nice. I have missed the restaurant at the Plaza Pavilion for a while now. It would be good to open up another eatery.

I think it's a great idea. The Carnation restaurant used to be inside and out. I miss the soda fountain theme. Moving the bakery is a good move.

For personal reasons, I wish that they'll do this.

I was just at Disneyland to usher in the New Year. While standing in the long, slow moving line at the Blue Ribbon Bakery (it was COLD so lines were long all over the park to get a hot drink), I reflected back to my memories of when it was indoor seating for Carnation. Back then, obviously, it was higher capacity and the theming was more appropriate. Although the ornate dark stained woodwork is attractive, it comes off more Bavarian than Turn-of-the-Century small town America. The change, back to the original, would be a much needed improvement.

I actually like it how it is now, but I do agree the line is very slow sometimes. Me and my ex had a tradition where at the end of a day at the parks, we'd get a beverage and a pastry at the bakery and then sit outside at Carnation Cafe watching the park empty itself out and take in all the ambiance of nighttime Main Street. If it were enclosed this would be lost, and the side street wouldn't be much of a side street anymore on that side of Main.

I think part of it would remain open and part of it would be enclosed.
    (I would hope)

Thats because some of those baked goods are from Costco. Many of the things like the chocolate muffins were identical in every way. This change sounds great.

And what's wrong with the Costco muffins?!? I swear, some people are never happy...

They might be buying the bags of Muffin Mix from the same wholesale source, there are only a hand-full of specialist Bakers Supply companies doing the pre-blended mixes out there to choose from. And they manage to make a consistently good product for you no matter what.

It's insane to go total scratch-made when it's just simple Cooks making them and not a full-on Pastry Chef that can handle two dozen ingredients in precise ratios... You take the big Hobart mixer, 20 pounds of dry mix, eggs and your liquid ingredients, mix well, fold in the chocolate chips or nuts on Slow, DONE. "Bake 'em, Dano!"

The cheaters buy the baked cookies and muffins from Costco and put them out in the case - on the same six-pack cardboard trays... Not fooling anyone, then again they are not really trying to.
