Xtreme Snow White: ride speed changed?

Has anybody ridden Snow White's Scary Adventures lately?

My party boarded the ride last Saturday (3/5) looking for a lull of dark-ridey goodness in our day at the park. To our surprise, the vehicle took off like Herbie on a bad day. We could hardly focus on the show scenes. The very twisty ride track doesn't have need, need for speed... it was dizzying, and it actually threw us around a little.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

I think it runs faster than the other dark rides. One reason may to be inhibit the infamous apple snatching that has gone on for years.

    Not sure of this.

That's funny, because last time we were there (about a year ago) my husband and I SWORE that it went faster than the previous time we were on it. However, we didn't think that they would actually change the ride speed, so we attributed it to us going crazy...

Did you ever find out if it actually did speed up?

It's always gone fairly fast, hasn't it?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I have never felt that it was fast, or faster than the other fantasyland attractions. But what I do think is that it is a bit more jerky and the track layout tends to twist and turn a bit more than some of the others, so it gives you that feeling that you are getting pushed around in the minecart a bit more.

Haven't noticed any change and the Wolfette and I go on it every time we are in the Park....which is a lot!

I think they might speed it up depending on park volume. I've been on it when it's slow and i've been on it when it's fast. If you were there on a Saturday, i'm pretty sure that park volume was pretty high. They were probably trying to get everyone on and off within a reasonable amount of time.

    Not sure of this.
But the apple isn't grabbable anymore, it's just a projection-type of effect now.

Actually, the added speed is the first stage of testing for a revamp of the ride; they're going to add a loop.

Personally I think all the dark rides in Fantasyland go too fast. If they just slowed them down a little bit, they would tell a much better story. It's really impossible to take it all in when you're being jerked around so fast. The rides would also seem a bit more legitimate and wouldn't leave you with that feeling of "Oh, it's over already?"

    Now that sounds like fun.

But where would the loop fit in the story line of Snow White?

It would fit at the end. The track is being changed so that you climb up the cliff to encounter the witch's death. When you get there, you are struck by lightning, which sends the ride vehicle for a loop. Little do you know that the witch has splattered all over the front of the car. The real reason for the faster speed is so no one in the queue has the time to notice this tragic mess.
