Re: Carthay Circle Theatres Twitter Rumor?

I propose an opera house style theater showing Snow White around the clock where one can sit, watch and eat in a fine dining experience with a VIP balcony that also leads to a VIP room that overlooks either Hollywoodland, Buena Vista St or Condor Flats (the first two being ideal).

Think the Golden Horseshoe, but bigger and with a movie screen and instead of lining up for food, it's brought to you. You can either pop in at any time, or reserve to be seated when the next "showing starts" with 20 minute breaks between each film so there can be some stage acts (themed to the time, nothing contemporary) and/or Alice/Oswald shorts while you order and then wait for your food to be brought and hopefully be catered to you right when the movie starts. The VIP balcony can have an expanded menu, including fine wines and can pop into the "exclusive" restaurant and dine with their view instead, if they wish.

This should also be a red carpet experience of such. VIP can enter through another door and be brought in with an old styled car (which basically could just do circles around the block if they want). Ticket booth, ushers, advertising campaign for Snow White; the works. I want to feel like I'm really coming to the premiere of that movie. And as you're exiting the theater through the back (not to bombard the guests waiting out front for the next "showing") there can be a gallery, exhibit of sorts (which can be experienced without the dining experience) with alot of Walt's old works, plans, etc. Very Lincoln, even with a mini-how Walt came to be movie for all of you who desire such in a Blue Sky Cellar kind of mini theater.

Speaking of Buena Vista St., they should really have a little area for World of Color showpasses. Obviously showpasses are not going anywhere, so they need to come up with a permanent spot for it, Buena Vista St. would be perfect.

I guess we are never gonna really know what will be in the Carthay until they make an offical announcement about it. Maybe at D23 Expo? But the construction walls advertise that Snow White premiered there (which it did back in 1937). So something Snow White related might be a good idea.

According to Al it will be a restaurant. The question will be - Will they build a separate section of the restaurant that will be a Club 33 v.2 ?

The current rumor is - First Floor - regular guest restaurant, Second Floor - private "Club 33" type establishment with more "posh" elements.

I wonder if they would use the restaurant in the Carthay Circle to do character breakfasts? The location would be perfect since people can enter the park to go the restaurant, but they can keep everything else closed until the park opens.

    I heard it too...who knows
why cant they just throw a theatre in it and run Cartoon Shorts all day? if it's an Homage than it should be a place where you can see all the original shorts and classic full length features

I was thinking that the original plans for converting the ITTBAB Fastpasses would be the most ideal. Just reconfigure the flow of that little area a bit and it would be perfect.

Now Official: Carthay Circle Theater Building To House New Restaurant and Lounge

New restaurant, lounge set for key Disney building - Around Disney - The Orange County Register

According to the OC Register, the Carthay Circle Theater building will not be a movie house as many of us had thought or perhaps hoped. Rather, it will be a stylish restaurant and lounge. A Disney official interviewed by OCR atated that the the interior design and menue have not been worked out yet. My guess is that the restaurant will be open to the general public. The lounge will be an upper story Club 33 type of exclusive club, Al Lutze had previously reported that a Club 33 type of club would become a part of the iconic theater replica.

Awful. Unless there is some sort of movie theater there. I hate the idea. That's like building a replica of the Griffith Observatory and putting a glow in the dark miniature golf coarse in it. Why even bother replicating Carthay Circle at this point.

Exactly. They can make it whatever they want as long as they put a screen with movies of any kind being projected on there then after that, I don't care if it's even a daycare for kids (okay, maybe I would care). But seriously, at least the Penny Arcade has some games in it. I think it's only fitting that a theater, being the main piece of DCA's new main street, should be a dang theater. There is so much food at DCA, there really doesn't need to be another one!

    1) cause its a nice looking building
    2) Snow White Premiered there
    3) Its a historical landmark in CA...hence the park being themed after the state

Also as much as it sucks for some.....its does make sense to make more $$$ and the Gold Drams building is based off a bulding in San Francisco (that is a Museum) yet it had a show about California's History and now the Little Mermaid should it not be there just cause it hosts attractions that are not in the real building???

I think your taking those opinions out of context..

the disappointment comes from not having more of a experience with the theater....
with it being the icon of the park.. its going to be kind lackluster when you see it and find out its just a restaurant in there... even more so if its exclusive

i didnt have 1 complain about this phase 1 at all untill now
