    1. A good reason for it to be a movie theater type exhibit.

See why putting a restaurant in it is a bad idea?

Id rather see somekind of a movie theater thing inside the building aswell... perhaps a 3D show featuring Walts in California life or something. Dinner could be a part of it. Oh well... Atleast this second gate has table service restaurants... yea.

theater in that building would have to be small as it wouldn't have the capacity of the other theaters around the park.

I dunno. For those complaining about a park icon containing a resturant I'd point out WDW's castle has a restaurant in it.

I dunno about DCA having alot of food either, it has two food court areas but I'd have to say the food is oddly clustered about the park. The entrance would've otherwise just had snacks type area and I guess its in close enough proximity to Taste Pilots for most of us?

I think it's a good idea. It will lure in the whale guests that DCA needs. For ten years, DCA has been nothing more than the free toy surprise in your box of Disneyland Cracker Jacks. The Carthay restaurant will add some clout to the marketing appeal of the park. It will change DCA's image to being more than just an afterthought.

Oh well. That's what it had been sounding like anyway. I was hoping for a Mr. Lincoln-type theater with a nice show. Perhaps a new twist on the dinner and a movie concept that some movie theaters do.

    Yep. One would think.

I was hoping this building would be some kind of show or museum or some such instead of a restaurant. I think DCA has enough higher end restaurants already. Seems the accountants had more say the imagineers again. It would be nice if they thought a bit less about how to squeeze our wallets dry and more about what people actually want.

Just to clear things up, the Carthay Circle Theatre is NOT a cultural landmark in California because it doesn't exist anymore. Modern office buildings now stand where the theatre once stood.

However, IMO, a restaurant inside the theatre is just plain stupid. Whenever I think of going into a movie theatre I don't think of going into a restaurant. I think of going to see a MOVIE. How lame and totally out of theme is this situation -- a prime example of how Disney doesn't quite get it these days. At the very least turn the inside into a very ornate lobby with some important items on display or something to that effect. But a restaurant? To me that doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I'm not surprised by the news, but I'm still a little disappointed. I was fantasizing about walking into a lavish, intimate little theater on a hot California day with a big bottle of water and lounging down in one of the red velvet chairs and watching a constant loop of classic Disney cartoons. Ah well - maybe they willl at least have a movie screen as a part of this restaurant.

Yeah, I can't believe Disney doesn't realize that guests want a museum, or theater to watch classic Disney films.

I mean look how crowded the Main Street Cinema, and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln are......

I think its a great idea. I hope they also add a club33 type restaurant at the top of the carthay as rumored. Perhaps it will shorten the horrendous waiting list for club33. Disney has enough trouble trying to fill theater attractions.ie: Lincoln..Main st Cinema..animation bldg at DCA. The last thing DCA needs is another theater or mueseum that will have weak Attendence just to satisfy the Disney fanboys.

Could be worse guys..WDWs carthy circle replica holds a gift shop.

It does suck that people don't go to these attractions...I go to them a few times a year when I'm a AP (not everytime I go) but I mean if the Theater was bigger they could had done something special like a History of Walt and maybe incorporate animatroic's to preform classic Disney scenes/Songs......at least to me that sounds like a fun idea I'm sure it would not always be a full house but a kinda unique attraction at the same time.

After thinking about it a bit more, I wonder if part of the reason they decided to go with a restaurant rather than a theater is due to the Hyperion being so close by. If they're able to fulfill their plans in making the Hyperion a lavish theater with a lobby and all, it might not make sense to have such a similar attraction nearby; especially if Hyperion turns out to be far grander than the Carthay Circle could hope to be.

I have my doubts about how successful an exclusive club would be. Club 33 is under such demand because of its history and link to Walt himself. A new club will never have that.

Not to say it wouldn't work at all, but I could not see it pulling a membership fee, or waiting list anything close to Club 33.
