    Current Small Details/Elements I Love

Being a companion piece to the list of things gone to Yesterland. And feel free to add your own or comment if there are ones I missed! Disneyland still has a lot of 'hidden treasures' or small quirky things in the rides, shops, or just in random corners.

    • All the masks and tiki carvings/statues around the Adventureland entrance and Tiki Room garden
    • The "comm chat" track inside Space Mountain (OSP, focus camera on spacecraft umbillical)
    • Fortune Red in New Orleans Square
    • The bat's tombstone outside the Haunted Mansion
    • The captive pirate AA/projection hybrid inside Dead Man's Cove on TSI
    • Cheshire Cat mirror inside the Fantasyland hat store
    • The small dungeon scene inside the turret at Snow White's Scary Adventures
    • Shrunken Ned inside Tropic Imports
    • The vintage looking photos inside Indiana Jones Outpost of "jungle expeditions"
    • The painting of Abraham Lincoln and Paul Frees audio intro to Great Moments
    • The Jungle Cruise boathouse loop/jungle news track
    • Lower seating area of the Hungry Bear at night
    • The Brer Fox shadow scene right before the final drop on Splash Mountain
    • Pop-up ghoul heads in the HM cemetery scene
    • The Matterhorn area chimes/wind track that plays as you approach from the central plaza
    • Old canned goods and vintage paper items and window displays on Main Street
    • The Houdini memorabilia inside the Magic Shop window and inside
    • The Bootstrappers in New Orleans Square
    • Voodoo lady balcony by the NoS bathrooms
    • The glowing-eyes igunadons and giant insects in the primeval world diorama
    • The painting of the "redhead" character behind the bar inside the skeleton caves in Pirates
    • The gorilla bouncer and Jessica Rabbit's shadow in the queue for Car Toon Spin

There are many, many more not listed doubtless, but have to leave some for other folks.

There is the "sealed" off tunnel near the River of America docks that "used" to be a secret way to get to the HM.

Oh, I never noticed the chimes before -- is that something new? I do love the wind sounds and of course the growl of the snowman, too.

I love Musical Chairs...I know it's not so "hidden" but it's a beautiful touch.

Walt Disney's baby picture inside the baby center at the end of Main Street.

All those names on windows on Main Street.

The Hotel Marcelaine on Main Street, paying homage to Walt's boyhood hometown.

I'm pretty sure that isn't what it was used for. In fact, it was never used.

That's why JerrodDRagon was using quotes around the words "sealed" and "used".

But it was never intended to be used to get the HM? Which is the point I was trying to make.

It was a hint at a much larger thematic project some Imagineers were keen on (and a few seemingly still are) of tying together Pirates, Mansion, and the island. The full scope was never realized, and a few elements remain only in visible sight: the tunnel, some HM attic items, Lafitte's anchor along the riverfront, some small signs and items at Pirate's Lair.
