    Halloween Screams animation

Does anyone know what animation software, or combination of software, was used to created the animation on the magic orb for the Halloween Screams firework show? Specifically, what was used to create and animate Jack and the other characters? I'm trying to create some animation using the same silhouette concept for some characters I'm creating.

    Thanks for your help!!

I could be wrong, but I assume they used Flash and/or Adobe After Effects. I use After Effects all the time and it can totally do all that stuff easily. There are lots of good tutorials on-line on how to do different animation techniques. These are pretty easy since they are mostly silhouettes.

I've been using a trial version of Flash Pro CS5, but I can't seem to get the animation of the mouth to work right. Could you send me a PM with a link or file of some of your lip-syncing using After Effects? I'd like to see exactly what it can do.

Also, does anyone know what software they used for the transitions? You know, the filler transitions between the character sections with the swirls and other general effects.

    Seriously?

I actually forgot I had posted this question before. So that would explain why I'm posting it again. Personally, I would have appreciated an answer to my question instead of you needlessly pointing out the fact I had already asked this "like 7 months ago".

Anyway, the OP still stands, folks. Thanks for your help!

Maybe Final Cut in post to blend scenes together. For the actual animation maybe flash or some other animation software.

It looks like Flash. (I do animation/graphics as a career).

my point wasn't to be mean.....what i was getting at, was its been seven(ish) months....it appears you haven't finished the animation, you don't have to use exactly the same program as the person used in the show, and people are giving you the same answers as they did in the first time you posted this question.....

Dadoo, I would say that either Flash or After Effects would work fine for your project, but each one handles animation differently. You can simply do a web search for the name of the program+"Tutorial"+"Lip Sync" and should get lots of helpful advice on what you need.

lip sync after effects totorial - Google Search

Also here are some tutorials I linked too about 2D animation if After Effects on my blog (shameful plug?): 2D animation in Adobe After Effects | Atomic Bear Press that might be helpful.

Good luck with your project and show us what you come up with.

    Re: Halloween Screams animation

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, and the links AtomicBear! It has all helped A LOT! I've decided that I'm going to have to use Flash AND After Effects to create my animations in segments, and then bring all the files into Sony Vegas for the final edit. I'll post something when I get it all done!

    Re: Halloween Screams animation

OK! So, I think I have figured out what program they used to animate Jack and the other characters in the show. It's Anime Studio Pro, or Toon Boom. I downloaded Anime Studio Pro and it's powerful enough and capable of doing the kind of character animations they did for Jack and the other characters. For the fillers/transitions, they DEFINITELY used After Effects. I even recreated a scene from the show using the exact pirate flag (which I found on the internet).

    Check out my flag animation!
