Another ride in Tomorrowland in 1998?

I can better explain this if I had the picture, but here I go. In one of the previews of the 1998 New Tomorrowland was the entrance, it is a picture where it looks as though people board the Astro Orbitor below ground, but on the left wall closest to the Rocket Rods entrance, not the gold now silver wall, but the wall that you can touch in the Buzz queue, there is some kind of contraption that it looks as though people ar sitting in that goes up as to look as though it is crawling the side of the building. Was that some kind of ride or was it decoration. And if it was a ride did it almost shoot up the side of the building?

Anybody that has this picture you will see what I'm talking about

I remember that pic I am sure somone has it and will be nice enough to post it soon. It was the wall near Tritions Gardens, it was going to be some type of decoration if I remember right. Wow I remember how excited I was at the 98 Tomorrowland redo...how that passed!!!

No, it either was some decoration or ride on the wall closest to King Triton's Garden.

I know I am next to alone in this, but I actually liked TL98...well, except for the vegetable garden thing and the Autopia.

What you don't like your sandwich fixin's growing in the landscaping mounds? I always thought it was cool, when the artichokes were in bloom.

Cool Re: Another ride in Tomorrowland in 1998?

If I'm not mistaken, that was going to be some kind of vertical automated agricultural growing station, on the side of the building, to tie in with the whole "food is the future" weak a** theming.

Unfortunately, not enough agriculture got incorporated into the design of New TL98, so the few fruit-bearing plants and veggies that have been utilized just come off as cheap ornamental horticulture.

    Nothing says "Tomorrowland" like Kolirabi.

Oh it was supposed to the finish off the whole Agrifuture theme...

I thought it was some kind of wall climber ride, because I recently saw the picture, but I can't recall and the picture was quite interesting because it appears as though one boards the Astro Orbitor underground and the Agricultural Growing Station as it is agreed what is now.

Thanks. I don't know why that wall planter or whatever it was never put up. Or the video screen for Star Tours either. Or the improved Astro Orbitor... Or the neon cases for the trees near the Plaza Inn...Or the Alweg Style Monorails in the way top of the picture....

You know, with twice as much money in the budget, TL98 could have been mindblowing.

    I sincerely hope that with
    *Walt Disney Studios Paris
    *DCA
    *TL98
*Winnie the Pooh ride in 2003
... that Disney has learned their lesson well.

If you're gonna go into hacking a budget severly .. and think they are STILL going to make money on these projects whether long term or short term ... they better forget it!

Just leave whatever is there with just minor renovations ... and IF they ever go in and do something major ... do it right or don't do it at all.

It didn't know if it wanted to be "Discovery Bay" ala Julies Verne or "Spaceland" ala retro gold version of Nasa or "Futureland" full of bright ideas like gardens and renewable energy ----even with money it would have been a confussed place.
