Lightbulb How would you bridge the gap between Frontierland & Critter Country?

With the recent posts about a possible expansion of Frontierland at Disneyland to connect Critter Country to the Wild West, it got me to thinking...

How would you bridge the gap between to two lands? Keeping in mind there is New Orleans Square in the middle of it all and you want more than just part of a path to be considered part of a land.

Possibly a connection to Tom Sawyer's Island to Critter Country to carry over into the Frontier theme? How would you do it?

Are you talking about a connection all the way around the back of ROA? I really don't see that happening for a long long time, if ever. If you're talking about something else, then I'm confused.

The possible Frontierland expansion would not even come close to CC. It would destroy the ROA if they did bridge the two lands.

you guys aren't thinking this all the way through.

Using this overhead shot again .....

I've used this to demonstrate the perimeter of Discovery Bay .. had the gone through with it. (In light blue).

Should they use the same footprint .. or close to it for these MYSTERIOUS "Frontierland Expansion" ideas ... imagine the west edge of the expansion .. then routing a walkpath that rounds it's way around the western edge .. and deliver people somehow back through Critter Country. It wouldn't be around the river's edge. It would be a path that would be behind the berm .. and would have enclosed sections (cave) where they don't want you to see backstage infrastructure.

It's a crazy idea ... but I see the practically in it. And feasibility. As the added path would help alleviate congestion on that side of the park. Critter Country is somewhat of a "dead end" zone .. and we're always talking about how the Pooh ride suffers from the few who don't care to venture into this corner of the park .. but if a continued walkpath exists .. then CC gets a little more action .. and possibly more riders for Pooh.

There's several things to work out ... but like I said - *Behind the berm *Out of site from river craft on RoA *Parts that are a cave .. to not ruin the illusion for either the guests walking through .. or for those on the Mark Twain, Columbia, or canoes.

A nature walk through I guess.

Putting a path outside the berm means having to move important backstage buildings. So many will already be displaced with the new Frontierland expansion, they'd be hard pressed for space.

Not to mention that would be a fairly long walkway with nothing to see or do.

    Exactly.

In a few sections that would work .. and in others .. like I said - a tunnel.

There is the matter of 3 buildings just above Pooh's showbuilding ... which you can see there. So ... don't know how they could have a path against the berm .. with 3 buildings butted right up against the berm.

I guess it just depends on what backstage infrastructure can be re-located. And to where ... is the big question, of course.

The way I see it though .. with all the discussions on crowds these days ... Al's columns on DL Capacity issues ... It would be hard to not guess at the notion of some sort of connection between a Frontierland Expansion .. and a traffic corridor which would really benefit traffic flow on Disneyland's west side.

The premise behind DLP's Main Street "Arcade" corridor is a means to get you from point A to point B. Along the way .. is some tasteful decorating .. and that's it. That is also a plan for DL's Main Street.

And on this "nature path" marked - This Way To Critter Country ... would have the large trees to your left .. along the berm .. and some fairly mature trees to dotted on the right. A little "atmospheric" music ... little details along the way .. not taking up too much room .. and there you go!

I always thought it would be cool if there were tunnels (in the form of caves) leading under the north end of the ROA. It would have a portal in Frontierland, on the island and in Critter Country. It would be an interesting way to connect to the island without having to take a boat there. They could also put some interesting activities in the cave/tunnel.

I WISH....man why did you show me it was possible to add a new land....now I'm always going to want it

Back on Topic...I would think a nature themed trail would be nice maybe even a Bambi themed section near Critter country...as long as the it was hidden well and on the Mark Twain you could not see the people I would be fine with a trail.
Also if they wanted to go al the way they could add a new "diorama" section to the trail to hide it from the guests and also add to the Railroad.

Sign me up for the confused team as well. The Frontierland expansion (if it happens) will be on the other side of the land, where the festival arena is now. This is clearly marked in blue on the diagram posted above. When was there ever talk of "bridging" it to CC? It already does that fine as it is.

^hmmm we'll I am sure if they added this Pooh would get more traffic then it is now. Also I would love to see a Bami themed area (maybe a Thumper Meet and Greet too) and maybe a pocahontas are and meet and greet.....

As for the Western Explanation its a rumored "side land" in Frontierland and would be were the Ranch/Festivals of Fools area is (and some back stage area's as well) and would add a new show/ride to the land and just new scenery...think of it as if Toontown was just the Mickey area and then they opened up the "Downtown" area and Roger Rabbit

    All aboard the confusion train...

a bridge to Tom Sawyer island would get in the way of Columbia and Mark Twain

One day they will build a new land north of the rivers of America (the former proposed sight for Discovery Bay, my favorite never realized project)

Re: How would you bridge the gap between Frontierland & Critter Country?

They could build 2 drawbridges that connect from the new FL expansion to TSI and then CC so you wouldn't need such a long pathway through nowhere and it would be a good excuse to redo the north half of the island. Or possibly a combination of a drawbridge and a tunnel. But I definitely think there would be some good advantages to making these areas all more useful and connected. It would add a ton of capacity and relieve traffic problems in other areas.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.
