Would love to see Disney revisit the Canyon and shoot a hi-def movie for the Disneynature series! :)
Maybe this could be a new attration over in critter country. Kind of a flying over the canyon thing

I'd just like to add that legendary Imagineer Claude Coats painted the backgrounds (or at least, designed them and had help painting them). Whether he had help or not, they are definitely done in his style of painting and should be considered his works. Claude is credited as the Art Director and Show Designer for both the Grand Canyon and Primeval World dioramas. ClaudeCoats.com - Imaginography
Disney did release a "Grand Canyon" documentary film in 1958. Grand Canyon (1958) - IMDb

The whole area is a piece of art on its own

I knew that only because I am a huge Claude Coats fan.

I think this is the most underrated attraction in the park
Re: Grand Canyon Diorama and Primeval World Attraction (The Best!)
Agree with all! It is refreshing to hear people who can appreciate the quiet, relaxing attractions, and recognize them as their own kind of thrill ride.

Seriously. And while I'm thinking about it...I'm not sure how many of you have been to WDW and rode their train, but Disneyland has WDW so beat. With our diorama scenes and ride through Splash Mountain that I love so much.
I am a grown man, and believe me, I will literally cry the day they decide to change it, bring in new animals/scenes/dinosaurs, or remove it completely.
Re: Grand Canyon Diorama and Primeval World Attraction (The Best!)
The DLRR is one of my son's FAVORITE rides and the dioramas are awesome. I read somewhere, though, that the deer in the GC scene are the only taxidermied animals and the rest are fake. Is that not right? I'll have to change my blog entry about it!
I'm not a great photographer, but here are a couple of shots from a recent trip:

Re: Grand Canyon Diorama and Primeval World Attraction (The Best!)
We took my seven-year-old cousin to Disneyland for his FIRST TRIP EVER last week :) The first thing we did was ride the train to give his a scope of how big Disneyland is, and he just adored the Grand Canyon and Primeval World exibits. Then after all of the fast and furious rides of the day, what was he excited to do on day 2? See the train exibits again! I love that he appreciated the dioramas so much. My seven-year-old self would have probably been more interested in Space Mountain :)

I remember riding the train as a kid, not knowing that the dioramas even existed. I was so thrilled when we went past them... it kinda felt like a "secret" I had stumbled across.
My son (4 yrs old) loves dinosaurs...next month on his first trip to DL, guess what I'm going to take him on and NOT tell him about beforehand? heehee Can't wait to see his face.

I had, just, that chance .. to see it in that format ... and it was like being in the movies!!!
Mesmerizing .. is the best word to describe this CinemaScope treat!
