    Re: Rainbow Ridge train...

I use to really enjoy the Mine Train ride. Yeah, it was slow, but it was dramatic and had fighting moose and spooky caves!

The old Mine Train ride through Nature's Wonderland was huge by comparison to the not soo Big Thunder Mountain. It was *the* Frontierland attraction much as the Jungle Cruise was *the* Adventureland attraction. Unlike Jungle Cruise though, it was large in scope with both small upclose scenes and huge scenes.

I believe you can get get a ride through video if you're really curious.

I'd love to see a video myself. Seems like such an awesome part of the past.

    I'm curious, Lore

Being in my late teens, I never got to experience this ride, but I've seen pictures via the internet, and it just looks awesome. Wish it wasn't gone. I do love Big Thunder, though.

    Re: Rainbow Ridge train...

BTMRR actually has a lot of stuff from Rainbow Ridge in it, like the town and the animals (which were transplanted.)

I'm sad that the cave is now boarded up... the one that you could see near the jumping fish.
Well, light travels from the sun. Then, bounces off of our planet, and back into our eyes so we can perceive color. My body can intercept that light and dance around on it!

It's not boarded up, is it? I'm pretty sure it's just a huge gaping hole still. Further up, closer to the BTMRR exit, there's another hole that's boarded up, but it's been that way for a LONG time.

It's wide open, ever since the major winds last year....right by the jumping fish.
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Oh is that the hole over the pond across the path after you exit Big thunder?

    Re: Rainbow Ridge train...

Yup, that's it. Believe it or not, the old mine train ride crossed over that pond and over where the walkway is now. The old mine train made use of a much larger space than Big Thunder. The space not currently occupied by Big Thunder is mostly unused, or not used frequently enough to be worth it. Someday, the management will see the value in that precious real estate and decide to build another E-ticket in the northern backwoods of Frontierland. Let's hope it's good.

(I'm not trying to start a rumor here...I'm just saying, the management's bound to figure it out someday. )

I miss Cascade Peak. Even though the train was no longer running when I went to Disneyland for the first time in '85, Cascade Peak added to the scenery around the river.
