It was there from Disneyland's opening... along with many authentic turn-of-the-century merchandise displays and an adjoining room full of player pianos (both of which were replaced by Disney merchandise shortly after the advent of Eisner).

With all due respect, perhaps we shouldn't be turning anecdotal information into a condemnation. The person in the mobility device may not have been fully acclimated, or perhaps their vision was impaired as well. Or perhaps they were swerving to avoid some thoughtless person who bolted in front of them. Yes, people can be stupid, but it doesn't necessarily follow that this was an act of stupidity.

that's what i asked myself! (on both accounts.) anyways, i was just imagining a scooter going full force for that stove; a determined looks in their eyes, and passerby just staring with mouths open. hah

and lastly, my boyfriend and i often see some rather clueless people at disneyland and always look to each other and say i'm glad you're not an idiot. lol but as i see it in most cases, as i've seen it stated here before, people seem to forget how to be logical or use common sense when in a new place.

Example: last weekend, we were on the tower of terror with a group of high school students. one of the girls' seat belts were stuck and she began panicking telling the CM not to start the ride bc her seat belt was broken. the CM is calmly figuring out the situation and then all her friends start manically yelling at the CM about the girl's seat belt because the CM didn't really clearly say anything to acknowledge the situation (but it was obvious she was trying to figure the problem out.) I mean, c'mon guys, do you really think she 1. didn't know her seat belt wasn't buckled. 2. didn't hear the girl the first 10 times she was telling the CM and 3. was going to actually send us off into the ride without everyone's seat belt buckled.

Well, I've tripped over my own foot many times at Disneyland, stood in line for Alice for 10 minutes before realizing that the people in front of me were just standing about and not getting on the attraction, bumped into many folks while I was distracted by the sights, talked to a woman who I thought was my wife who just happened to move away without telling me...sometimes dumb happens.

Not as crazy as it may seem -- I know several people, including my wife, who over the years have been "sent off into the ride" on the Matterhorn without their seatbelts buckled, and their attempts to alert the loader were ignored.

It "isn't" a "me" world. There are too many of us on this planet which we share and we're all too interdependent. We only allow ourselves to believe that.

Sorry for getting on a soap box, SCUBAbe. No slight intended to you at all.
I think you're mistaking a meme for something else...

Anyways, shame that it's gone, I do enjoy the authentic antiques on Main Street, they add more to the theme than a replica does.

My guess: You all do realize that the stove was taking up valuable merchandising space, and not generating a single bit of revenue? Is there any wonder it was removed?

No. You can look at my post record and see. But I do use this as a sarcastic way of telling people that this is a serious matter.
