    A three-year-old Trip Report

I've had these photos, so I finally decided to share them all. Travel back in time about 3 years, to a time when my daughter who was 5 at the time, and I took a 3-day mini-trip to the Happiest Place on Earth, just the two of us.
We stayed accross the street at this hotel, the Camelot Inn.

Opening up the park, Samantha and I headed straight to Fantasyland. Beat the crowds and got on everything in about 20 minutes.

No matter how hard she tried, Samantha just couldn't pull that sword!

Then off to Princess Fantasy Faire, for a quick, crowded princess fix. As a father, it is a little bitter sweet, since now she wants nothing to do with princesses. My little girl is growing up.

While we waited, my little photographer snapped this picture of Dad. Not bad for a 5-year-old. She even framed it so it looked like the crown was on my head.

First up, a picture of the most beautiful princess in all of Disneyland, here with Belle.

Then she met Ariel. She told Ariel we'd be having breakfast the next day at her restaurant in DCA. Ariel said she'd keep her eyes open for her.

Then we listened to princess stories and posed with ladies in waiting. Here, demonstrating the success of the place: Something for dads, as well as kids.

more to come soon. Hope it's okay for my first trip report.

Not that anyone seems to be looking at this, but here is the next batch:

This was a big day. It was the first time Samantha wasn't terrified of the characters.

The canoes have become a favorite in the family. To us, these scenes seem very realistic. It's easy to lose ourselves here.

I took Sam to my favorite spot in the park: Court of Angels.

Later that day, we stopped by the Jedi Training Academy, where cute jedis train children in the ways of the Force. Sam was too shy to take part, but still wanted to see the show.

Shortly after the new monorail model premiered, we got to ride in the front. It was a big deal for Samantha, and a bigger deal for me.

    Re: A three-year-old Trip Report

    Getting back to the trip:

For day 2, Sam and I got our requisite photo in front of the castle.

It was time to go to DCA. I guess I won't get another of these photos again.

We headed over to the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. I didn't mind it so much since it was early enough not to be too crowded.

After that, it was time to go to Ariel's Grotto for our princess brunch.
As we headed downstairs to greet Ariel herself, we got a surprise as the mermaid greeted Samantha by name, obviously remembering her. I was really impressed since I know these girls meet lots and lots of kids. I really didn't expect her to remember my daughter's name. This little gesture meant a lot to us.

The princesses all came to our table. I think Cinderella and I make a cute couple.

Samantha really wanted to see a glass slipper.

After most of the guests left the restaurant, Ariel posed with us some more. Really a sweetheart.

We went back to Disneyland and competed in Buzz Lightyear's ride. I totally beat a 5-year-old little girl!

One highlight was watching the Parade of Dreams together. I still think that's the best parade Disneyland has ever done.

By nighttime, Samantha wanted to see Fantasmic, but she was REAL tired. She fell asleep on my shoulders before the show started. I walked like this from Rivers of America to our hotel on Harbor Blvd.

For our last day, Samantha wanted to head to Princess Fantasy Faire one more time. While hugging Cinderella, her headband got caught on Samantha's shirt, and got pulled nearly off. My camera wasn't fast enough, but I tried. I guess it's a good thing that the whole wig didn't get pulled off.

The day before, Ariel told Samantha to come and say goodbye. When we arrived that morning, Ariel wasn't there, but the manager on duty arranged for a quick private audience with her.

That's basically it. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me share.
