Remember standing in line for Rocket Rods? I do. Remember watching those short films over and over again as you moved through the switchbacks? Remember being sent down into the smoldering tunnel to wait for another eternity? Remember hearing a faint but annoying tune in that dark place? Oh, I do.

I checked on Youtube and have found it.

It plays as 4:50. Now, from what I remember, it was always extremely faint. The song is a lot worse when you hear it at the original pitch. Who in their right mind authorized this?

Further research reveals that that tune is called "Highways of Tomorrow", and it is deprived from a short tune written by the Sherman Brothers at the end of The Happiest Millionaire called "Detroit", seen here:

Haha, Detroit. Such lyrics surely wouldn't apply to that place today!

Either way, I put it down at the most annoying tune Disney has in the archives, aside from Desert Habitat Kitchen from Horizons!

I think the Imagineers must have been embarrassed as well, since you could only hear it slightly, or maybe guests complained.

Oh wow... I have good memories of riding the Rocket Rods after they first opened. Listening to this music just made me question those memories!

I hear that it will be making a return as the soundtrack for Radiator Springs Racers!

EDIT: If that doesn't pan out, TDA has heard the complaints about the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure and will be putting this in there to add a spring to your step as you walk to the trams.

I have the whole twelve minute loop of the tunnel music, if only out of nostalgia. It really is terrible. Every time it pops up on shuffle I just skip it, lol.
