StoryTeller's Cafe?? House of Blues?? Worth It?

we have gone to Goofy's kitchen twice but now our kids are 8 and 11 and banging the pots and dancing are a little beyound them now...

We have also done Minnie's Character breakfast too ---- LOVED IT, but we have done it twice and want a new experience.

I was reading about THE STORYTELLER'S CAFE... but I am confused?

    1. Where is it?
    2. Is it a Buffet like Goofy's/ Minnies?
    3. What type of characters would we see there?
    4. Is there 'entertainment' like Goofys?

    5. Is the buffet like Goofy's with food for breakfast/Lunch and dinner or just breakfast like Minnies?
    6. Considering the price, would you go for Buffet or order from the menu.
    \

    Thanks!

    While I am at it....

The only Downtown Disney resturant we have not gone to is the House of Blues as we thought it was more of a grownups place rather than kids... am I wrong? Is it good for family dining?

I see some coupons for it and was wondering what everyone else thought.

    Thank you again.

House of blues is one of the better places in downtown disney in my opinion. I love it. It is more for adults and they always have great music playing in the concert area at night time.

We were at the Storyteller's Cafe in December.

    1. It is in the Grand Californian close to the park entrance.
    2. It has a Buffet and a Menu. If you want Pancakes or Waffles they will bring them to the table.
    3. The Characters are Chip and Dale and other woodland characters.
    4. I did not see any entertainment.

I do not know if they have the characters for any other meal than breakfast.
The food was great, one step above Goofy's

It is worth a trip. The food is very good.

I haven't heard too great of things about Storytellers, but I haven't eaten there myself to make a final judgement call. HOB has decent food, but it is a tad bit overpriced.

I was walking though Downtown Disney tonight and, maybe this is just me, but does anyone else feel like there is wasted real estate potential there? Not in terms of space but in terms of what occupies it. Maybe it's just me.

Eat at Storytellers! They have really good food and great decor!
The only thing to consider is the price, will it be worth it or not?

I agree, and actually the DD HOB's food is not as good as other HOB's I've eaten at.

Yes, of course. But businesses have a very hard time staying in business there. A lot of times it's the parent business that goes out of business, like Illuminations and Club Libby Lu, or just plain fail like the Anne Geddes store, Basin, and Department 56. I was under the impression that Disney had trouble attracting retailers to sell there.

Storyteller Cafe is okay. . . which actually surprised me considering it was in Grand Californian (I expected better). The food however is on par with Minnie's Breakfast, Goofy's Kitchen, and Surf's Up. The only real difference is the "woodland" critters. Best thing is you can get a Bloody Mary. . . or 2 or 3.

HOB is also "okay". I used to frequent the one on Sunset and the food quality there seems to be much better. With that said, the menu is the same, you can always eat on the patio if the music inside is too loud, and they often have discounts available from various food groups (heck I have 3 more $25 dollar off coupons I got for a buck).

From my experience HOB at Downtown Disneyland is something you can miss, and know you are not missing too much.

Storytellers has been hit-or-miss over the years for dinner. One time it will be good, and the next it will be terrible. But for breakfast, it should always be good. As others have said, it is at the GC hotel. But for me, our "secret" place is Whitewater Snacks... almost always great, and not bad prices for a Disney restaurant.

House of Blues can be great entertainment if there is someone there you want to see, but more of an adult hangout than a place to take the kids - hope you enjoy!

We've done Storyteller's a number of times while staying at GCH; if you go for breakfast, try the banana stuffed french toast sometime, it's pretty good (but not the same as what you get at the Tangaroa Terrace in WDW).

It's also a great place for dinner if you have a "crowd"; they can accommodate some large tables, and the service is top rate. Best of all, you have that combination of buffet or menu items which will keep everyone relatively happy.

HOB has had some excellent barbecue, but the place has always seemed dark and loud to us.

We did Storytellers for dinner last time we were at GCH, it was actually pretty good. Pricey, but you are paying for the location.

HOB was average on same trip, service was slow and they were not busy. We think there are a few better choices available in DTD.

I and the husband ate breakfast at Storyteller's once. It was very good. We ate off the menu which was much more reasonable than the buffet. Chip and Dale stopped by to say hi which I was not expecting. It was a really enjoyable experience, but it does not have the enthusism that you will find at Goofy's or Plaza Inn.
