World of Color: Look back on the cancellations/tech problems

You might still remember when World of Color had another show stop a couple of weeks ago due to technical problems.

I skimmed throughout Youtube and finally found a video that shows the show being stopped that night.

YouTube - ‪Disneyland's World Of Color Show Cancelled‬‏

Below is a list of the known cancellations/show stops along with any video:

    1. Late June 2010: 2nd show cancelled due to a pipe breaking in the viewing area and leaking water. 3rd show went as planned.

    YouTube - ‪World of Color Flood‬‏

    2. Early July 2010: Earthquakes that hit SoCal prompted the cancellation of all 3 shows. No damage was reported on the platform itself due to earthquake.

    YouTube - ‪World of Color Canceled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!‬‏

    3. Summer 2010: Not really a cancellation. Some unkown problem caused a restart.

    YouTube - ‪World of Color Fail‬‏

    4. Christmas Day 2010: Audio Problems caused the rest of the show to be cancelled.

    YouTube - ‪[HD] Disneyland Christmas 2010 : World of Colors‬‏

    5. January 13th, 2011: Technical issues paused the show during Aladdin and was able to continue.

    YouTube - ‪1-13-11 World of Color restart‬‏

This means that World of Color has only had 6 known problems that caused either a restart or a cancellation. Happy 1 year in 10 days!

Number 3 is my favorite of them all. I like how they all thought the show was going to get cancel until they heard that it was delayed.

Excellent track record considering how many times the show has played since opening...compare that to the fireworks in DL. :/

Not to mention that the show hasn't gotten a real "Dark" time yet. I thought at this point, technical problems would be abundant that would cause frequent cancellations, but I give the tech credit as I did in a thread I made a while go complimenting the tech team.

I was there on Christmas Day when it got canceled...(We had bought the dinner with priority seating and had the best spot right up against the fence)....to top it off it started raining right after...total bummer...
    anyways....
I was also there a year ago on 6/10! It's so amazing that it's been going practically non stop ever since. It's definitely a must see in my book and I'm glad that it hasn't had a dark period yet.

I was there that night and it was the first time I was going to be able to view the show. I was actually about 20 feet from where this video was shot. My friends were all freaking out that they were going to cancel it.

LOL, you were there too? So was I! It happened on July 18th actually! I was in the dinner viewing section with friends. It was the first show and yeah when the announcement came on everyone in my section started to freak out since they all paid $40 meals to see it lol. Luckily 10 mins or so later it came back!

I was there for the show stop/cancellation on May 12th. It was the best view I ever had (and my boyfriend's first time seeing the show). Total bummer. I agree though that the show's track record is pretty impressive.

#4 is one of the top 2 IMO. The other being the recent one.

Re: World of Color: Look back on the cancellations/tech problems

Sorta related, anyone know of a collection of pre-recorded cancel/delay messages for any Disney. I'm always amazed how they seem to prerecord one for any type of issue.

Back in 2008, I remember being there for the 4th of july show that was cancelled a few minutes in, and they had a custom message, rather than just a generic "Our Firework show cannot continue".

We all heard the recording of the Earthquake ones at Tokyo, has anyone collected one at Disneyland.

Would be interesting to have a capture of the "soundboard" they use.
