Why are there no swans in the moat anymore?

Didn't they stop putting the swans in the moat because they'd either get attacked by cats and racoons or die or soomething like that?!? i swear i thought i heard that, i could be wrong! but they were such a great addition to that area, it's just not the same with the ducks...

I heard that about a year ago a few of the swans died. I believe that it's Circle D that's in charge of taking care of them.

Gators ate 'em. I think they're going a bit too far when it comes to keeping people out of the moat.

I want to say not more then 2 months ago my gf and i were sitting in the seats that over look the moat(the ones on your way to the draw bridge of the castle) and while we were sitting there a fish was swimming around and literally out of no where, some BLACK thing came out of the water and ate it, then it disappeared under water. i couldn't make out what it was...lol i know it sounds like a joke but it isnt...anyone might have an idea as to what it was

I have heard that the swans are actually rented? Maybe this could have something to do with the fact that they are no longer there?

Either a larger fish or might have been a turtle. If it looked black (or pretty dark), likely culprit was a catfish.

Whatever the reason, I think the castle really loses a bit of class by the swans not being them. I for one miss watching them when I go to Fantasyland.

A couple of years ago I ask a security guy why there was'nt any swans anymore and he said people would throw pennies into the water ( because everytime SOMEONE sees a body of water they have to throw pennies into it thats why there is a wishing well people!!! ) Anyho he said it made them sick I think he was trying to say they passed away. And that is sad because I liked seeing them swim around.

Well maybe it was a year ago when I talked to the security guy but he did say that the cooper from the pennies wasn't a good thing.

I haven't seen the swans send 2005 when Disneyland had there 50th Anniversey. I figure they got rid of them cause of the wires or what ever is in there for the fireworks and that it would hurt the birds to have them in there and the firework wheel. I could be wrong.
