first off, when it comes to a water park, just say no. Build a resort hotel with some themed pool areas, fine, but it needs to stop there.

As for DisneySea... no. That is indeed their Epcot, their signature park that should not be repeated. More effort should be spent in making DCA our signature park.

If they eventually do a thrid gate, that can be a bit clone-y. If you're familiar with Indonesia Mini, this will make more sense... It can borrow elements from Epcot and DisneySea, but it has to have a new spin. Think of World Showcase arranged geographically. A square-ish park representing "the four corners of the globe," EurAsia, Africa, and South America -- each with themed hotels helping to form a berm behind their respective corners along the east and south sides of the park -- and North America. The narrative of the park layout will be the Melting Pot, where you update Liberty Street, Edison Square, CoP, and Horizons. Then a modernized Skyway takes you back to the entrance, and as you ride above this representation of the four corners of the globe, the speakers whisper the refrain of it's a small world...

dude that field is 90 acres

Disneyland is only 85 from what I hear

they could easily build a good park on that land if they planned it out right (wich was the point of me making that map of the land)

btw DCA is only 55 acres presently

don't get me wrong I like that they are making changes but it's fairly obvious that DCA was an effort to clone MGM except with the addition of a few things from Animal Kingdom (river rapids ride and It's Tough to Be a bug) plus a generic amusment park themed area was added as well

and TokyoSea is obviously derived from Epcot (the different countries represented a science area, the difference here is they dropped the boring country's and themed the science areas to more of what Paris got with Discoveryland) they almost inverted it though instead of the locations all surrounding a lake it's an island surrounded by water

and DisneyStudio's is blatantly a poor man's MGM

I'm glad that they do give us origional attractions and make significant differences between the clones and the origionals

but honestly? only the hardcore fans are going to travel from resort to resort and that's not Disney's goal

Disney's goal is to grab as much of your money as possible meaning that they don't want you to spend alot of money on other things (like say Travel) and they want you to stay at their resorts for as long as possible (hence the multiple parks/pools/shopping areas/other resort stuff)

and putting all of that aside Disney doesn't have total ownership of any of their overseas parks

so yes I'd expect to see a bit of mishmesh and retheming and other interesting type things for our third gate but I don't expect Disney to give each and every park 7 unique rides, most parks just need a relativly unique icon and maybe one unique ride (all the other rides will have plenty of differences)

I've just about got my DisneySeas/Epcot hybrid park planned out though I think most people would actualy like how it might turn out if Disney were to actualy build it

Wow, you're right. I guess I never thought about it that way... every resort does have a mix of what everywhere else has just with different names...

Hmm... I'm interested in seeing your DisneySeas/Epcot park though.

What do you think about a waterpark for the third gate? I personally don't like the idea..

to me disneyseas looked alot like the park they wanted to build in long beach over by the queen mary. They had trouble working in that city and pulled out of everything...even running the Queen Mary.

Maybe they should put a water park in. Those seem to be popular in california.....I've never been to one though and we lived right by raging waters when I was growing up...LOL

I would like them to build something completely new. The Star Wars Weekends are huge in Florida I hear and think they should make amends with George Lucas and join FORCES (Ha, I crack myself up) and create an entire Star Wars themed Park. There are enough worlds and adventures in the movies to create hundreds of possibilities for rides and attractions. I would love to be in a Coruscant themed world and all of the sudden have an Imperial trooper (Cast Member) order everyone off the street to have a huge battallion of Stormtroopers march in formation down the street. Damn, I get chills thinking about that. Come on, Star Trek has their own little psuedo theme park in Vegas, it's time for us Star Wars fans to have something bigger and better with alot of Disney magic thrown in.
Build it and they will come!!!!!!!

Build a Disney Dome, have a retractable roof, have a seasonal water park during the summer and a snowboard/ice rink park in the winter, plus a mega multi floor DisneyQuest experiance, much bigger than anyone has built too date.

I think a water park would make for a poor third gate as well as being wastefull use for the land

at most you'll get another half day off of a water park I'd assume, the goal of Disney is to get people to extend the length of their trips to the resort, a water park would make only 3day trip

also there is nothing that a water park can really add the the resort as a whole that highly themed hotel pools could do equaly as well

Disney would do better with their money to spend it on buying up some of the neighboring hotels and expanding them into Disney Family hotels (cheaper then the delux hotels we have right now) or economy or whatever they're called for people who arn't oozing of the cash

then they should theme the hotels moderatly (like the Rock N Roll themed hotels they have in Florida and such) and get them excellent themed pools/arcades and gift shops

the family hotels would be on the east side of the park and the luxery ones would be on the west (DLR hotel, Grand Californian, Paradise Pier and possibly build another deluxe one)

if Disney ever wants to invest anything in a water park they should look at using the parkinglot behind Paradise Pier hotel (they could theme it to the beach and the themes would sink well with the hotel as well as provide another perk for the luxery hotels)

even then though if they built a water park I'm not sure if California is going to benifit from them the way Florida does, it gets relativly hot I suppose but it's nothing that you can tolerate, and it does get relativily cold for swimming in the winter that makes operations very seasonal, add to that that Disneyland's off season see's much less traffic then WDW's and DL's only other major traffic time being Christmas (aka no waterpark durring the peak Christmas season)

all in all Disney will see much higher return on investment if they concentrait on expanding their ownership of hotels (and changing them into Disney hotels) and eventualy building a third gate that is a theme park

a casino is a bit different then a theme park

I don't see this being worth all the investment that it would take and the fangroup might be a bit narrow

    neat ideas though

I would like to see Starwars weekends or something at DLR, it might be something neat they could do for I dunno... spring? they could even do layovers of different things and have a special parade in DCA

if we had a Disneyquest it could easily become a virtual starwars headquarters

a star wars themed hotel might also be pretty neat

I have heard that the 3rd gate (if & when it ever happens!) is in fact the same project being planned as the 5th gate for WDW. Find out what that plan will be & you'll have your answer.

Even so, it would be fantastic to have a DisneySea right next door to DisneyLand in Cal!

so far I don't think any sort of 5th gate is being planned for WDW (and even if they did add one it would be impractical)

Jay Russulo or however it's spelled has announced that there will be no more massive expansions for the next ten years while they concentrait on filling in their current holdings all the parks they've built need more additions and believe it or not this includes DisneySea
