Folks, I'm going to fix this thread for you, but PLEASE use the "Spoiler" tags when you are giving away secrets that others may not want to see. If you are just asking a quesstion or guessing, it doesn't require tags. However, if you are telling the actual trick or secret please use the tags.

The "Spoiler" button () looks like a black box, it is just to the right of the "Quote" button. If you are using the Quick Reply window click the "Go Advanced" button under the window to find the spoiler tag button.

My 8 year old daughter informed of how the fire effect in POTC works:

    Spoiler
    Sheets, fans, red lights!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Ah yes... there is an optical illusion technique called "the Black Arts." It is employed in many of the rides... and yes it is Magic.. I am not one to reveal that secrite...

I had never noticed this before, and you could never notice it while on the ride so it's purely for the people watching in line so that's cool. Anywho, does anyone know how that effect is accomplished?? I'm really curious.
    Spoiler
The embers are fiber optics embedded in the floor. They have been there since the attraction opened.

Also, when the ride originally opened the fire inside the fireplace was different:

    Spoiler
It was a curtain of steam; the "fire" image was projected onto that instead of the material which is now there. Unfortunately many of the humidity-type effects in Fantasyland, cold and hot, have disappeared.

Also, the "hell" area was very hot, and so full of steam that I remember my glasses fogging up instantly!

I think its just the flashing lights and how it looks when the car heads towards it and underneath it.
    I also found this!

That shouldn't be that difficult really...

    Spoiler
They simply define the motion of the camera projector timed to the movement of the floating ball/face.

It seems however that the rerecorded a new face, it does not at all look like the old Madam Leotta I remember

One ride that still had hot&cold effects (at least the last time I rode it last summer) is
Alice. But IMHO it's not as intense as I remember it.

Also I vaguely remember something like it in Cartoonspin... but I'm not sure...

What about the different paths at the start of Indy? They all end up in the same place...

I know someone linked to the indy FX but I'll post them here so you don't have to search around those threads. I'll try to make it as clear as possible.

    3 rooms:
    Spoiler
The three rooms are really all the same room. There are actually 5 doors,1 is real and the other 4 are painted on but only three can be seen at once. The walls on either side of you move so if they move all the way to the left then the door on your far right is the real one. If the walls are in the middle then you go through the center door. and if the walls are all the way to the right then the left door is the real one. They just change the FX, lighting, and scrims inside the room to make them look different.

    Boulder:
    Spoiler
The boulder is a large ball that just sits stationary while spinning on an axis. Your EMV stops and the hydraulics move around, during this time EVERYTHING in the room including indy on the rope, except you and the boulder begin moving forwards. This gives the effect that you are moving backwords, sort of like when you are at a stop light and the car next to you moves a little. Naturally if you moving back the boulder should be getting further from you, but since it doesn't your mind feels it is getting closer, plus, it seems to get closer to the walls in front of you since they are moving towords it. The strobe completes the effect and you speed down ahead.

What about the Buzz AA in the queue?
    Spoiler
It's obviously some sort of projection but where does it come from?
