Any issue people have with the smell is psychological, it is not toxic. The scent is one of the great features of Pirates.

Yea, I agree with the majority. The smell is more of a musty smell, i've never smelled chlorine. I love the smell. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've smelt it other places and was immediately taken back to Pirates. HaHa.

is it like a disney water smell in general? My fav is splash and I've smelt that "scent" before and flashed back to splash... so maybe it's all their water rides??

I don't get why everyone is saying they are putting a loop in every ride. You have to understand that there are some rides that you just can't add a loop

Hey frollofan, can you imgaine what a loop in a water/boat ride would be like? Maybe a really long fast drop that allows the boat to do a water loop :P

I'm going to Disneyland California August 30-31 and was wondering if any of you know any rides that will be closed? This would be a big help so I don't get sad that one of my fav rides would be closed please reply if you have an idea of what might be closed. Thank you.

Perhaps it's possible with a water coaster

If I find out any more information regarding the refurb, I shall post it here.
    Please, no more movie elements.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Refurb

I wouldn't say that I thoroughly enjoy the smell, but I'd have to say that it truly is a part of the ride, especially after the first descent. I agree with others that it doesn't smell like chlorine, it's more like a musty smell like dirty water, but not chlorine so to speak. If it were chlorine, there would definitely be more people that would come off the ride agitated if it were there.
"Up" is a relative concept. It has no intrinsic value.
