I'd like to see it become a San Francisco land.

I don't think they're crossing any lines. as long as the thread doesn't get derailed and moved because of the jokes, let them have their fun. also, you have to expect things like this on a disney forum, just like you would expect people to make jokes/complain about things they don't like on a different themed forum. c'est la vie.

Oh, but to answer the question, I think the land should be versatile enough to have adequately themed rides placed there later as they choose, much like fantasy land can have a vast amount of stories added. I love native american culture, and that would be cool to see if done in the disney fashion.

Bugs land has a weird footprint.
Squeezed in between Hollywood and Carsland.

    Take a look.

I don't want to see anything replace A Bug's Land. Love it or hate it, it's quite popular with parents of younger children, and fills an age niche that doesn't adequately exist elsewhere in DCA. The existing rides are fun, age appropriate, and reasonably well-themed.

This is absolutely correct. I have a nephew with autism. He can't go anywhere near a dark ride so the little rides of A Bug's Land become his Disneyland. It's such a small footprint in the grand scheme of things, just leave it be. Besides flying around in a box of Chinese take-out is one of the more unique Disney ride experiences. The decorations at Christmas are also quite charming.

Definately a complete new land that's not based about one movie. If it's DCA, the land should be based on California.

Even after the Carsland expansion opens there still will be too few rides to spend a day at DCA. Adding some quality dark rides with minimal to moderate waits would help flesh it out, but I don't know if we'll see Disney do less than elaborate dark rides in the future. They seem to be pushing for fancier rides now so it is unlikely that they could build 3 rides in that area.
I love this comment. You brought up an important point that is easily forgotten on here. One of the reasons why Bug's Land is disliked by so many, is because those rides are too young for them. When we don't like something at the Resort or if it's not our cup of tea, it's very easy for us to say it needs to be replaced, it's no good, it's not magical, etc.

I agree about the Fantasyland type of rides that suggested and think it would be a great way to help make it to where all ages (0-100+) can enjoy. It's impossible to make something that everyone will like, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Only when seen from the air. When experienced from groud level on-stage, it doesn't feel wierd at all. In fact, when it opened, that was the edge of the on-stage property. Tower of Terror wouldn't exist for another 2 years.

Today, many people know the horrors that missionization and the post-mission period brought to Native California cultures. The Chumash especially were enslaved, abused and decimated by disease, to the point of staging a bloody revolt in the 1820's, which was brutally put down by Spanish troops. The tragic history of post-contact Native California is, sadly, not the sort of material that lends itself to Disney-style fantasy, immersion and fun.
Hmm... still, I think the aspect of Hispanic history in California could be brought up without too many problems, if they focused less on the "mission" and more on the "Spanish village." A recreation of early Spanish Los Angeles might be interesting, for instance, if they just focused on the pueblos and civil lifestyle without focusing on the church. Throw in a Zorro dark ride, maybe a tour ride of a Spanish town by the Three Caballeros, and you'd have a nice little land that just touches on an important era of CA history in a Disney way. Liberty Square and Frontierland also have potential for unfortunate implications, but they still manage to avoid them and feel successful as Disney lands, wouldn't you say?

Re: what would you like to see replace a bugs land

i don't think it needs to be replaced either.. i think it's perfect for small children. i've taken my son to DLR at ages 1, 3, 5 and next in october at age 7.. the rides here were perfect for him during his earlier visits. it kinda helped him practice for the bigger rides in a way. we always love to stop there on a hot day and let the kids run through the water, never any big crowds with rude teenagers.. and it's tough to be a bug is my family's favorite show. it's obviously not meant for the adult / teen crowd, so let the families with small children have their little oasis.
