I have to comment on the 80s LA idea! I immediately pictured two great thrill rides: a dark ride that winds through 80s-era punk & hair metal clubs, like the Anticlub & Gazzari's, and then a high-speed roller coaster built inside a replica of the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Both would be every bit as frightening as the Tower of Terror.

On a slightly more serious note, I think that A Bug's Land as it stands would work well if it were connected with an area themed with a fusion of Griffith & Elysian parks. Not sure exactly what kind of ride would fit there, but it could have something to do with the Griffith Park Planetarium...

Re: what would you like to see replace a bugs land

A Bugs Land is one of my favorite experiences of any Disney Park. As indicated by a prior post, it is perfect for young children (by this I mean chronological age, not emotional). The theme is immersive and truly transports the guest "into" the land. At night, it is an amazing experience. This land is a favorite of mine because I have seen it, and continue to see it, through the eyes of my daughters.

What really needs to happen is that they need to close the access to A Bugs Land from TOT. This truly degraded the experience. Now with the opening from TOT, we have experienced "guests" as they walk through after having "enjoyed" the adult beverages of Electronica.

While I appreciate that it might not be for everyone, it is perfect for the audience that is was intended.

Something with baseball might be cool, too. California has such a rich history with baseball. Not only does CA currently have more teams than any other state, but it also has the first two teams to set up shop west of the Mississippi. The Cubs also used to have their spring training here and their owner, William Wrigley owned most of Catalina and Wrigley Field in LA where the Angles started.

I'm not sure what can be done with it, but it would be nice if CA's baseball history could be explored somehow.

I don't think replacing Bug's Land needs to, or even should, mean putting in rides that aren't kid-friendly. Fantasyland rides are kid-friendly, but they're also well executed and fun for adults. The Bug's Land rides may be fun for little kids, but they are not up to Disney standards.

I disagree with this idea. Having Tower of Terror at the end of a dead-end path was a major misstep in the park design.

I'd like to see something that really celebrates California's history. I'd love to see a land that recreates (a Disney verision) of an 1849's gold mining town. I suppose it would be somewhat like Frontierland, but the focus would be on the California aspect. Would be perfect for an E-ticket ride through a gold mine, haunted mine shaft or something. It would also be easy to blend this with the Spanish influence mentioned earlier.
I really think these historical environment reproductions is really missing there.

I wouldn't replace "a bug's land," but what I would do is remove one or two attractions and replace them with a more all-around family attraction. I'd also try to figure out how to put an eatery or restaurant of some sort in there.

bugs land is pretty all around family with family type rides. in fact i havn't found one that isn't family orientated and mellow for the little kids! so i don't get you mean by more family orientated, also no room for a eating place. Besides look around DCA--they have enough!

My point has been that the rides are only for kids, and very young kids at that. I've only been with my young nephew at Disneyland where he loved the E-ticket rides, but I'd be surprised if he looked at the Bug's Land rides and even wanted to go on them as a five-year-old. Disney could come up with better executed rides the whole family could be excited by.

The area leading up to the ride would be a sleepy resort town with a lake and some small C ticket rides like they have in bug's land.
Wow I really like that idea!!! That would be so much fun!

My original thought was maybe an Aladdin or Lion King themed area, but that doesn't quite go with the California or Pixar theme that DCA has going... I'm just so envious of the Magic Carpet Ride at Disney World. I know it's basically Dumbo, but it's so pretty! Both of those movies are barely represented at the Disney parks.

I think that it would be an excellent location for an attraction similar to the "The Great Movie Ride" but featuring the great Disney classics like Mary Poppins, Old Yeller, The Poseidon Adventure, 2000 Leagues, etc.

To all pol who like a bugs land

I like bugs land too but it doesn't really fit the CA theme.yes its enjoyed by children but that is what should be avoided. We need rides and attractions that the whole family can enjoy.

i still don't get what you mean, but here is the thing. disneyland has a whole park full of rides for families. DCA is a bit edgier, with bigger rides that bigger kids can enjoy. To me DCA is fine with the pixar rides and "left over's" like LMR and such, i personally think that carsland and bugsland fits because they are left overs in such that did not fit into disneyland because they do not have room. SO all i can is if you famliy rides disneyland has them, although soarin is a family ride, so is monsters and LMR and GSS and SSS and CS. but for younger kids disneyland has more family rides. DCA is edgier, i must be the only one that thinks this way.

Re: what would you like to see replace a bugs land

Question. When Carsland opens, will there be a clash of themes between Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and It's Tough to be a Bug area? Since Carsland is a desert theme and the TTBAB area is lush and green. I was wondering if there will be a dividing line or will the areas overlap each other?
