MAIN STREET, U.S.A.
Main Street dining expansion and retail reconfiguration
Details: Several Disneyland dining and food retail locations will undergo expansion and retiming beginning with the addition of the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in the former Plaza Pavilion starting August 2011.
Project Status: In progress.
Open Date: The multi-facility project will include multiple openings, with the final opening in summer 2012.Jolly Holiday Bakery Café
Details: Utilizing the recently vacated Plaza Pavilion, this new Mary Poppins-themed bakery and café will bring foodservice back to the Plaza Pavilion facility. The bakery was
officially announced on August 16, 2011 with construction scheduled to begin August 17.
Project Status: Now open.
Open Date: Soft opened January 5, 2012. Officially opened January 7.
Blue Ribbon Bakery closure and Carnation Café expansion
Details: When the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café opens in January 2012, the Blue Ribbon Bakery will close permanently on Main Street. The space will once again become dining space for the Carnation Café, decades after the Café gave up its indoor dining space for the Bakery. The expanded Carnation Café with its new expanded indoor dining area will open summer 2012. On January 4, 2012 the
Disney Parks Blog announced the Carnation Cafe would close to begin its expansion on January 5.
Project Status: Begins January 5, 2012.

Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, Candy Palace and Penny Arcade enhancements and remodeling
Details: The popular Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor will close in January 2012 to be reconfigured for better crowd flow and and improved guest experience. At the same time, the nearby Candy Palace will also close and its popular on-stage display kitchen will be expanded. On January 4, 2012 the
Disney Parks Blog announced the Gibson Girl and Candy Palace would close on January 5 to begin their remodeling projects. On April 25, 2012 the Disney Parks Blog
announced the three locations would reopen May 2.

Main Street ArcadeDetails: Inside sources report a new themed arcade is being considered for the east side of Main Street, USA. The themed indoor throughfare would help ease crowd flow when overflow crowds are exiting the park during peak seasons and following fireworks and parade performances.

ADVENTURELAND
Aladdin's Oasis theatre / The Tahitian TerraceDetails: Theatre went dark following conclusion of Indiana Jones Summer of Hidden Mysteries show. On August 19, 2011 at the D23 Expo, Disneyland Resort President George Kalogridis announced that the Tahitian Terrace would return as part of special offerings for guests seeking Club 33-style exclusive experiences. The announcement was unclear if the actual Adventureland restaurant would return or if the experience would be created and offered differently.
Project Status: Details on the project are unclear at this time.

NEW ORLEANS SQUARE
Haunted Mansion enhancementsDetails: Rumors have circulated about the return of the legendary Hat Box Ghost in the Haunted Mansion's attic for years, and in early 2009
Disney began dropping hints that the long-rumored return could happen for the attraction's 40th Anniversary in August 2009.
Al Lutz reported on 8/25/09 that the Hat Box Ghost would return following the 2009 Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay. Additional enhancements could include lighting, audio, and general show upgrades as well as possible show scene upgrades in the Portrait Gallery, Limbo (loading platform), further attic enhancements, and interactive Hitchhiking Ghosts. As of summer 2011, no changes have been made to the attraction. Rumors are currently circulating that the animated/interactive Hitch Hiking Ghosts recently added to the Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion will soon be added to the Disneyland attraction.

One-of-a-Kind ShopDetails: Inside sources say that a new version of New Orleans Square's One-of-a-Kind Shop is under consideration.

FRONTIERLAND & CRITTER COUNTRY
Fantasmic! enhancementsDetails: Signifiant enhancements for Fantasmic!, including new scenes, were reportedly under consideration to help the show compete with the new "World of Color" show at Disney's California Adventure.

River Belle Terrace replacement/expansionDetails: Long-rumored River Belle Terrace expansion would provide two-level dining and upstairs priority seating for Fantasmic! performances.

FANTASYLAND & MICKEY'S TOON TOWN
Matterhorn Bobsleds extended refurbishmentDetails: The Matterhorn Bobsleds will close to undergo an extended refurbishment January 9, 2012 through summer. During this time it is confirmed that the attraction will receive a new fleet of bobsleds that will forgo the original tandem-rider seating configuration. It is also rumored that the attraction will receive show enhancements during the long closure.Project Status: In progress.

Fantasy FaireDetails: A new "Fantasy Faire" will replace the Carnation Plaza Gardens area in the Central Plaza of Disneyland, effectively expanding Fantasyland onto Main Street. The new area will include princess meet-and-greets and a small stage for performances in a "fantasy village" setting.
Project Status: Officially announced August 19, 2011 at D23 Expo. Construction was said
to begin September 2011, according to the OC Register, however as of January 2012 it had not yet begun. On April 11,
TouringPlans.com reported that Carnation Plaza Gardens would close April 30 to begin construction on Fantasy Faire.
Disney confirmed these reports on April 12, further elaborating that the evening swing parties would be relocated to Downtown Disney starting May 5.
Status: Carnation Plaza Gardens to close April 30 with Fantasy Faire construction beginning immediately.

Tinker Bell dark rideDetails: Al Lutz reported in his 8/25/09 column that a Tinker Bell and Her Fairy Friends dark ride would utilize the long-unused Motorboat Cruise area "early in the next decade."

America the Beautiful in CircleVision 360Details: On August 19, 2011 at the D23 Expo, Disneyland Resort President George Kalogridis announced that "America the Beautiful" in CircleVision would return as part of special offerings for guests seeking Club 33-style exclusive experiences. The announcement was unclear if the actual Tomorrowland attraction would return in some form in a new Tomorrowland venue, or if the experience would be created and offered differently.

New show for Magic Eye TheaterDetails: "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience!" is now closed while Captain EO returns for a limited engagement. It is unknown if Honey will return following Captain EO's run.

HOTELS, DOWNTOWN DISNEY AND BEYOND
Disneyland Hotel RenovationDetails: Long-anticipated renovation of the Disneyland Hotel includes a tower-by-tower, multi-phase renovation in which each hotel tower will be completely gutted and remodeled. New rooms feature fiber-optic Sleeping Beauty Castle headboards, wireless internet, flatscreen TVs, and multiple energy-efficient upgrades. For more information on the hotel room remodeling,
click here. Disney has also
announced plans for a complete redesign of the Neverland Pool area which included the addition of a new water play area that opened summer 2011 with Monorail-themed water slides. The pool area expansion included the
removal of the classic waterfalls and koi ponds.
Project Status: Major remodeling work completed. Remodeling began on the Dreams tower August 24, 2009. As of August 2011, the Adventure Tower and Frontier Towers are complete, with remodel work continuing at the former Never Land Pool, Fantasy Tower and Convention Center.New Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam's Bar opened spring 2011 in conjunction with a new Monorail water slide pool. Major remodeling efforts were completed November 2011, with minor additions and final touches being added into early 2012.
Completion Date: Major work was completed November 2011, with finishing touches continuing through early 2012.
La Brea Bakery & Cafe remodel/expansionDetails: The walk-up quick-service portion of the La Brea Bakery Cafe is closed for remodel and expansion.
Project Status: In progress.

Island Charters shop closure and LEGO Store refurbishment Details: The former Island Charters store closed by the end of December 2011. It is expected the location will serve as a temporary LEGO Store location while the main LEGO location closes for remodel. A permanent replacement for the shop location has yet to be announced, but it is rumored that Disney will create a Disney-owned retail offering for the location, rather than seeking a third-party lessor.
Project Status: Retail space currently being used as temporary location for LEGO Store, with long-term plans for Disney to take over the space with a new Disney-branded store.

Earl of Sandwich restaurant replacing Compass Books and CafeDetails: On February 7, 2012, the Disney Parks Blog confirmed previous reports from Al Lutz that the the long-time Downtown Disney bookseller will close permanently and be replaced by the first California location for the Earl of Sandwich restaurant chain, which already has locations at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris.
Project Status: Bookstore closed at the end of March. The space is currently closed as it is converted into the new dining location.
Open Date: Early summer 2012.
Two new Disney Hotels at the Anaheim Garden WalkDetails: Two new Disney-managed Hotels will be built at the Anaheim Garden Walk. From David "Darkbeer" Michael's
3/27 MiceAge column: Owned by Prospera Hotels, the two hotels will be managed and operated by Disney, and will feature Disney names, and use Disney employees. A 4-Star/upscale Hotel will be at the corner of Disney Way and Clementine, and a more "family" hotel will be on the south lot, next to the Cheesecake Factory.
Project Status: In January 2012, the City of Anaheim
approved a $158 million tax incentive for developers of two planned luxury hotels at the Anaheim Garden Walk. Disney is no longer involved in the project.

New Resort parking structureDetails: A new guest parking structure to be located on the current Pumbaa lot across the street from the Anaheim Garden Walk.
Project Status: Construction rumored to begin in 2009.
