Actually the facade between the Cones and Mater's is just that, a facade, to hide CM kitchens, and it's not based on anything from the movie, it's original to Carsland.
Opps, didn't see the post above, but it's still not based on anything from the movie.
Poor unfortunate Souls.
That's actually a myth, there is no bridge there. All traffic has to go through the gates in ToT where they recently built the connector path, which can only be used after hours.
Poor unfortunate Souls.
I don't think it is. Doesn't look like it from the 45-degree overhead picture:
Anaheim, CA - Google Maps
Yeah it's not really a bridge, it's just a walled path to isolate Bug's Land from the backstage area/road. There's no foot/vehicle traffic underneath.
I don't remember there being a bridge there, It used to be the old road before fff was built. If there was a bridge there then the pathway under it would have to dip quite a bit since fff and the cereal box are built at the same level as the existing bugs land or any socal underpass would be small and just used for pedestrian walkway. If that was the case then why build cast member access gates on each side of the cereal box. Also what would be the need for an underpass there when the back of Hollywood is accessible from the tower of terror and fff access gates. The same path that used to be used by the parade floats when they where staged to exit from the sunshine plaza.
The only underpass in that vicinity is actually the one outside the park boundaries behind Hollywood and dine building. There is a tunnel that allows trucks to move from Disneyland to DCA without having to leave the backstage areas into traffic
Just noticed Simba answered.
I think part of the reason some people incorrectly think it is a bridge is because the cereal box makes it feel and look kind of like a bridge.
Also, as the saying goes, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Because they know a road comes up to the pathway on both sides, they assume it goes underneath, when in fact, both sides simply dead end.
I assume it was a through road before FFF was built? Does anyone have an aerial photo of that?
Here's an aerial from Bing that shows that the road dead ends and there is no bridge/tunnel.

If the road went under the FFF box they would also not have port-o-potties standing in the way of cars.
On Google maps they do show the road going through, but obviously from the photos that the directions are on top it is not possible. I guess don't use Google maps if you work at DCA.

Here is absolute confirmation for you....there is no road under the "Bridge" It's a dead end on both sides. MYSTERY SOLVED!
On another note the RCT ran from the barn to the new sensor loops at the ToT gates this morning....it sure is perty.
Dang, I wish you had a picture of it.
