Man, it must stink to be a five year old kid at DCA right now. The lights are on, the music's playing, the ride is running, but it won't be open for another 4 months. Ba-humbug...

It seems the bright lights are the ones attached to the poles, so I would guess they are permanent. But I agree it does seem pretty bright, perhaps they will be dimmed during regular operation.

Oh wow, I really didn't mean to start bickering. I was just curious if there was such a thing, as it seemed like it would be a more viable, long-lasting, economic choice to use an LED equivalent.

From ground level you can't see equipment being used or construction workers from most view points. I'm sure with the way things look, many (uneducated)guests wonder why they can't go into the park behind the walls. The same may be happening soon in the entry as the buildings get thier final coverings put on.

I need to start reading this thread more, and start paying attention. I will be visiting late in May, and even though things won't be totally complete, I look forward to seeing the progress. I haven't visited for a long while. January of 2011, to be exact.

That's my guess too. Maybe that's the brightness they'd use for evacuation or if the ride goes down? During the ride and throughout the night, I imagine them slightly dimmer...possibly Bugs Land dim.

I wonder if the camera, and it's lens flares, are making the lights look brighter than they are in person.

That's not the case, unfortunately. Just got back from DCA yesterday and the lights are indeed that bright in person. I would imagine they'll be dimmed as its rather jarring how bright everything is in person, too.

They're pretty bright in person. I hope they aren't permanent and I don't think they are since they look mainly like construction lights.

With the rate of construction that's going right now, you never know, Cars Land could be soft opened by then.

It's likely the bright light are security lights being used now during testing.
