When I was there this morning, the musical environment and the general streetmosphere in the BVS area was a very neo-classical concerto for Jackhammer and steel welding in loud major

It seems like it is going to be rotunda style... open to the first floor?

I like the rotunda concept. There is nowhere near enough room for a 2nd story and AC. Remember when people were convinced TLM was a 2 story attraction.

Oh, true. They can't put the AC on the roof. At least, not above that section of the building. However, there is a large section of the building, off to the side, that has a flat roof. Perhaps the AC units would go there. I still think that it's a safe bet that the upper floor of Flo's won't be accessible to the public. It was just a cool idea.

More pics (and sneaks). Does anybody remember when they re-finished the Disney Junior Theatre? Wasn't it earlier this year? Didn't that also include the extended queue area? After Mint's update from yesterday, it seemed the walls went further and sure enough, it extends pretty far in front of the entrance:

Now, I'm onto you Mr 'Re-Building-The-New-California-Adventure' and in your maze of walls, it seems that everytime you put some garbage cans, it's in front of one of those walls that moves (look at the top, it's not aligned!). And that means that there are some 'open seams' (how open depends on the wall of course...)

    Sneaking a peek shows...

...a lot of devastation and even the curbs...

    ...are gone!

And as a side comment about doing and undoing, I like how they add some scour lines into the brand new asphalt supposedly showing aging. (And please, don't hesitate to correct me if this is not asphalt!)

Last completely unrelated note: how many supplier do you need for all the utilities and manhole covers? They come from California, Wisconsin and even some Indian foundries !

Didn't they flatten that part out and remove the curbs for the main pathway recently? Or am I like 3 refurbishments of the same area behind?

Ok, some more wookie-yeti like picture then!
This one shows how the tractor attaches to the plater.

As you can see, this is towards the back of the tractor and it includes the whiplash connection. So really, the whiplash is NOT connected to tractor but directly to the plater. They were running a bunch of them (but only one tractor) checking the smooth transfer from one plater to the other. The one that was connected to the tractor had the passenger carrier setup with some weight inside but I couldn't get a pic in time (let's just say that an extremely nice and polite security CM started to get suspicious about my activities )

    ...anyway...

On this one, you can actually see the tractor again (it is just slightly peeking above the fence on the left, by the tree), as well as the gantry that was used to set it up on the track.

They had some kind of makeshift operator panel setup where that guy was managing the ride it seems. I'm not sure if that's where it'll be on the final setup though.

They are still bring some more landscaping and there's quite a bit of variety in the trees they are setting up. It is weird that the concept art is almost deserted and they're building a quasi mini forest here
That said, if there's one complain they heard loud and clear from the guest as part of the DCA 1.0, it's been 'Need more shade'. Shading was almost a mantra for most design Imagineer I talked to at D23

Another view on some of the new trees because I know there are people out here that enjoy vegetation as much as me (I think!)

Ok, pump house and back to BVS next !

Copy that. I thought you meant contemporary like "Downtown Disney jazz". Carry on!

That is unless the toothpicks are just being hung at random lengths and will eventually be cut down to a much shorter, more uniform length?
The toothpicks are just for holding up scaffolding. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are not the main load-bearing elements for the rockwork. I suppose they provide some extra support, though. So the toothpicks don't have to be a uniform length now, nor will they be cut to a uniform length, they will only be trimmed at the end of the project to match the depth of the rockwork.

The rockwork here may only be a few feet in depth off the vertical structure or there may not be much depth at all. Maybe TreoFred or someone else can chime in on this? Doubtful that the rockwork will connect to the parade building. That's a separate structure, which they may remove some day. Also, there is no need to do rockwork behind the parade building since it won't be seen (unless they plan to remove the building at some later date).

As for a second story dining room above Flo's rotunda... there is nothing in the art work or blueprints that suggests that will happen. The rotunda is where you order for food. Those places always have high ceilings. The light, space and air will make it very nice.

I believe he talked to a bunch of Imagineers at D23. Plus he admits some are rumors.

    Nice photos btw TreoFred, thanks!
