He specifically said he talked to a lot of imagineers on a recent trip, I think at D 23 and just relaying what they told him IIRC. He was very direct about that.

And the pics are just his direct observations.

    New video by MintCrocodile:

With construction work taking place just inside the gates of Disney California Adventure, a temporary route has been created which leads behind Soarin' Over California to get Guests into the Park. Here are music samples from the temporary entrance that may or may not play in Buena Vista Street

Thanks for the music sample! Glad that annoying loop from Sunshine Plaza is gone. I remember many a parade shift where I wanted to cut the wires to the area speakers.

The music is great! I hope that is somewhat representative of what we get when BVS opens. I'm already Shazam'ing and SoundHound'ing it.

    Hi BuenaVista28,

No I don't currently work with the House of the Mouse. As I said when I posted them last week, all the stories I got were just that: rumors and stories. Some I trust very much (all the details about BVS, about RSR, etc.) because everything since has been confirming what I was told. So far. Other I liked because, while impossible to prove (and as such I very much tagged them as rumors), I found them fascinating. So I shared a few.

I stopped also to limit debate which was beyond the tracker. No harms done hopefully

Today, I went back to the park with a list of some of the questions that were raised here (curbs on BVS, will they open the fountain area and is it ready, the ever controversial west wall of RSR, etc.) and I just went ahead and try to snap away. Seeing Mater being tested was just a very lucky happenstance. And there are tons of people, between Mint, Fishbulb, Ron, etc who do wonders with their photographic reports so I tried to find more specific things and angles

Some are just for the fun of it, like the following four though:

From the trolley switch track looking at Condor Flats

From between the Hollywood columns, looking due west

Against the fountain wall, looking up the Carthay

From the Condor Flats entrance, looking at the pumphouse

Welcome to our latest attraction, the Wonderful Walls of Colors. Your theme music includes such local hits as the Beach Boys 'California Walls', The Eagles 'Walled-in California' and perennial surfer favorite, as originally performed by The Surfaris, 'Walled-out'

    Cheers

    ---------- Post added 08-31-2011 at 06:06 PM ----------

    And now the pump house.
Only a couple of things on this one:
    1) They added some trees to that curb (you can see the four new trees peeking above the fence)

    2) They have at least one moving wall for non park hours construction, right on the cross walk

    3) They added the various lights on it and even some cabinetry, most likely for brochures or other things that were held in the old information desk.

Again, I've got lots of other dubiously interesting pictures but I've already monopolized that thread way too much today so I'll take a breather before I irk too many more people

    Toodles.

Because he is a useful poster. He doesn't pretend to be some insider, he just posts info that he knows and images from the parks, and they are what they are.

Re: Disney California Adventure Project Tracker 12

Thanks everybody for the positive notes .

Mojave, I'm sorry, I don't know about the toothpicks but there was a fascinating YouTube posted earlier in the tracker about the construction of Expedition Everest (a PR piece done for the Travel Channel or "Marvel of Engineering" on Discovery I think) where Joe Rohde explains how traditional scaffolding will not work (with some forceful overacting IIRC ) and how they should take the toothpick approach. I wish I could remember who posted it to give the right credit, sorry.

nonob88, thanks for the link to Mint's video. As I mentioned, when I was on BVS, you mostly heard construction noise

Lastly, I said I was done for the update. And I was. So this is not really an update or anything, just two pics.

I took this one of Cadillac range from the Blue Sky Cellar front patio. It is really turning into something exceptional as far as I'm concerned:

I then recalled from the D23 "Radiator Spring Realty" panel that John Lasseter explained that they were in order and you had to know your Cadillac fins. I'll admit, I didn't (still mostly don't). So I researched it. I came up with this:

That looks about right to me (although I might not have the exact right model for '57, and some of the models might have gotten a bit 'skewed' with my liberal use of the eraser and the freehand transform !)

Any Chevrolet expert around to offer their two cents on this?

    Cheerio!

^^ I believe the one who found and posted the video about Expedition Everest was Macro.

Chevrolet is although owned by the same company as Cadillac a different company.

Thanks for all the updates Treofred! Your updates lately have helped to make this thread very interesting.

Your right! I now remember him mentioning the search for that video during a sleepless night (probably hand stitching one of those other worldly panorama )

...which of course is GM. Doh! Thanks for pointing that one out too
I got confused because I remembered John Lasseter's dad was a Chevy dealer !

Yeah Macro is pretty much amazing when it comes to pano's (I got lazy and so I decided to not type it out but now I feel like a punk making up slang words haha). I remember it was Macro because for like the next 3 pages everyone thanked him for posting it. Haha.

At least you got within the correct company. My sister still to this day thinks Chevy and Ford are exactly the same thing...

Quick question...are these markers supposed to signify stops for the Red Car right? I know there is also one of these near the ToT. Also, does the date signify the opening date for stop or something (in this case 1937)? What is the date on the ToT one?

The first one they installed had the year 1942 in it. Then a few weeks later they changed it and it no longer included the year:

    The original marker

    After it was changed:

Why would they add a Trolley stop in 1942 for a hotel that was abandonned since October 1939?

And the 1937 on the Carthay one is likely an Easter egg reference to the Snow White premiere

However, that marker (the one Mint had in his update) has been killing me because I walked all over the Carthay area today and couldn't find it anywhere!

Cross checking back on his update, I also noticed that they've changed the actual walls positions quite a bit since last night AND modified some of the misleading 'Park Exit' sign... It's kinda weird when I compare the two sets of pictures...

I think I'd be safe to say that is one of those things most park vistors would never notice. I love stuff like that.
