Wow, if Disney is charging a lot for drinks, I can't imagine...

Wow, seriously, I mean no offense, but some of you guys are talking in a tone as if you guys are child psychologists or part of a parenting magazine or something. You guys are looking WAY too much into this. I go clubbing all the time, but I don't do drugs, or even drink for that matter, and the type of people I see at these Disney parties are DRASTICALLY different from the club scene. I don't even think they'd be comfortable doing drugs and getting excessively drunk in front of kids and families. That's not to say it doesn't happen, but let's not act like these parties are the first time people are doing this, it's been going on for years, and Disney has a very good handle on it. I've seen them crack down on overly drunk people and kids who might be high. It's not like Disney doesn't know it's happening, that's why they have so much security. And it has never gotten so unruly that kids should be nowhere near these parties. That's just exaggerating if you ask me. If you keep an eye on your kids and what they see(these people are pretty discreet) the kids will be fine. They won't even be paying attention because they're having too much fun on their own.

I also want to note, parents on this site seem to have much more of a problem with these parties than in real life. I always see tons of families having fun and enjoying themselves, it's only in places like these where it's put under a severe microscope.

Most parents have a problem with exposing their children to anywhere where there is a chance of drug use. In my experience there is more than a chance of drug use. I have seen it happen at both Glow Fest and Electrinica and it does not deter those who are doing it in the slightest that they are around children and families. I've seen it, I've smelt the pot in the restroom, I've seen the kids handing out pills in the crowd, I've seen the man in the corner with a white powder in his sleeve. Parents who feel this area isn't for them just because of the atmosphere have every right to feel that way, but there are far more serious things going on that make me feel the way I do.

You could be right, but if it's loud music...we keep our daughter from it (for hearings sake). The alcohol and such, we don't get our daughter around it. It's just our preference for us and our child. As for it being under a microscope because it's at Disney, that's not our case. We don't even do stuff like this living in Vegas. It just isn't our scene. We don't even go to bars to drink or the casinos. So it's not just because it's at Disney, it's just because it isn't a scene that works for us.

Remember, parents have different morals, rules, and activities that they find appropriate and in-appropriate. We need to respect each others opinions on this.

You think just because you see SOME parents with children there, that there arent many others who wont go to that area? You seriously cant even grasp the concept that a parent wouldnt want to take there 3 and 5 year old to an outdoor club type dance party where alcohol is being consumed? Some of you must not have small children. That area of the park happens to have to of the best attractions for small children to experience with their parents in the entire park. I probably wouldnt even have a problem with this if they did it during off seasons. But again, I am not against any of the things taking place at Mad T Party. IMHO, just isnt a good place for small kids.

I will admit Disney has gone all out for this one but I just don't agree with the idea of booze parties. Mad T Party has the best lighting and audio effects we've seen yet and I'm glad Disney put the money into it as apposed to just reusing the set up for ElecTRONica, but it's definetely not for me.
While yes Elctronica may have some drug use, I have also witnessed men, young and old smoking pot in the restrooms at all the bathrooms in Disneylandand even heard kids talking about them doing shrooms in line at the alice in wonderland ride. No matter where it is people will do drugs. We cant just blame one party for drug use because I have seen and smelt it many of times in Disneyland itself. Id even say I smell marijuana more often in Disneyland than in California Adeventure.

Well the next time we go to Disney, we're going to have three youngsters in tow, and we know now to actively avoid the Mad T Party. It just seems too much like a rave...

Drug use is everywhere not just this rave party, seen plenty of "kids" doing the same thing in lines for rides.

that would be everywhere. drug use is everywhere! I'm not being sarcastic but it is. It's at school, it's at theme parks, its in homes.....this isn't anything new. And this dance party doesn't make drug use any more prolific than it already is. if you really want to avoid all contacts with drugs then I guess you can lock children up in their rooms 24/7. Otherwise you can just arm them with some good parenting so they know how to act when presented with difficult choices.
This is my signature. There are many like it but this one is mine.

We are going to have to agree to disagree on this guys/gals. Those of us who don't think it's for our kids, maybe we could go ourselves first...check it out and see if you think it would be something your kid would enjoy or you would allow them to do.

Those of you who think it's fine, that's fine. TRY, and I emphasize TRY to at least see it our way...doesn't mean you have to agree...just try to see it from the other side.

I think the issue is those of you that are being very vocal about not taking your kids there are belaboring the point to the rest of us. If you aren't comfortable taking your children there, that's your prerogative. But it's not something that you need to state over and over again on the boards. It, rightly or wrongly, makes it seem like you're trying to claim moral superiority.

I think we can all agree that the dance parties at DCA aren't for everyone. And yes, many of you feel that all parts of the DLR should be for the whole family. But the fact of the matter is that this is something that is geared more toward a certain demographic, a demographic that is taking advantage of the event. If parents feel comfortable taking their children there, fine. If not, also fine. But no need to be repetitive and overly assertive about it.

Also, it's "smelled", not "smelt". Just saying!
