    ElecTRONica replacement

Does anyone else hate hate that they keep doing these? they take over the hollywood backlot during the day and make it look soo trashy. I feel like this is something you'd find at 6 flags. why can't they hide the lights on the top of the buildings like they do on main street. or have them pop out of the ground like for fantastmic. (i know its more costly but if they are gonna keep doing them, they might invest in a system to hide these lighting trusses for the day. they look disgusting)

i agree hide everything during the day and as night falls bring out the party stuff

    It's a music Celebration
Come on, come on, come on
    Strike up the band,
Feel the beat, what a great sensation
Come on, come on, come on
    Move and clap your hands,
    Get into the Spirit
    Let everyone hear it,
    So come on, come on

    Step into the Magic
    Watch the stories come alive
    Step into the Magic
    Every color shines so bright
    Step into the Magic!!!!

It's ugly during the day. But it makes that area extremely popular at night. So you win some and lose some. I personally love ElecTRONica, so I don't mind the scaffolding and light rigs during the day. but if these night time events became permanent, there is no reason why it couldn't retract.

I'm pretty certain they know the issues with having the lights out in the day. Pretty sure they want to change that too. But that requires fairly significant infrastructure changes and that sort of change doesn't come quick or cheap. That means designs and plans have to be drawn up, presentations have to happen, re-workings of ideas, approvals, budgets approved, etc. It's a lengthy process, but I'd be really surprised if it wasn't already moving through the process. Things aren't always done right the first time at the parks. They learn and grow just as everyone else.

Seeing that the rest of the park used to be closed, I think this area being open later is much better than just shutting the park down for world of color. The good news is....you don't have to go there if you think it's trashy.

I am glad that DCA appears to be thriving, but you can't disagree that during the day these towers are unsightly and don't fit the theme of the land. to me they ruin the "magic". I'm saying that if they are going to continue these as a permanent event, great! but please hide the Infrastructure during the day. no need to be rude about it.

Right now all of DCA is unsightly due to all the construction. I don't mind the towers because if it's depicting hollywood and movies, it seems fitting to have lights up and such. And don't break out the "rude" card, that was in no way rude. It's an added bonus to have that area open when it was closed before.

They fit the theme absolutely. It is Hollywood Pictures Backlot. It isn't Hollywood. There is a difference. One is the city, the actual place. One is a backlot on a studio, a set. That's where we are in DCA, a set. There are flats, and trailers for the actors, and props and storage, and stuff all over the land. A backlot set would have lighting towers, especially if there were having a wrap party, or a premier. The lighting rigs fit the theme perfectly, and actually make the theme more realistic than if they weren't there.

That being said, they are rather unsightly, but I guarantee this is something they understand and I'd be very surprised if they aren't working towards a solution for that. They did a much better job making the elecTRONica set up more subtle than the GlowFest one though.

No offense at all, but the whole idea of Disney is to pull you away from reality. To make something better than what it really is. I'm sorry but they are hideous and weather or not they are "realistic" it doesn't really matter. They are temporary and they don't belong there. I was ok with them for a short time, but with Disney's plans to continue these nighttime events they need to figure out a more permanent solution. I heard they are thinking about doing an Alice in Wonderland theme (Tim Burton style).

I didn't say it was a good idea. Just that it fits the theme of the land perfectly. As a modern backlot the theme kind of fails already in my opinion.

Yes, Mad Tea Party is said to be the next theme. And given the success of these last two street parties and the obvious desire to continue them, I would expect for them to come up with a much better lighting/sound package design. They'll try to find ways to permanently add stuff to the area in a way that hides it as much as possible during the day.

I don't mind the light bars either. I feel that it adds to the theme of the hollywood backlot because it is not hollywood street , it's suppose to be a backlot of a hollywood studio.

so i love the lights! yay for lights!

that is true. they used to close the whole park down just as WOC started, but now that the nighttime parties are in swing it's gives the park a reason to stay open till 10 pm. And it's suppose to depict a backlot of a hollywood studio

They are thinking of doing a AIW theme..but either way electronica is still in full swing! Yay for light bars! They do look realistic because again it's suppose to depict a hollywood backlot. It's fine that you think they are gross, everyone has opinions, but if you really don't like them that much then you should try the Tomorrowland Terrace on friday nights. They have a band that plays and they are good, well depending on who they are. And they don't have 'hideous' light bars.

I agree, for the most part. I only find the unsightly towers acceptable because of how amazing the area becomes at night. They're not that big of a deal, considering half the park has continuously been behind walls/under construction. I would assume there are plans for something more permanent since the concept has been so successful, but who knows when/if it happens.

I have to admit, it is ugly during the day. When the party first started at night I hated it. When the GlowFest started I could smell alcohol everywhere! Not very appropriate if you ask me. Anyways, the party has really seemed to slow down the past few times I've been there and me being a youngster I really don't mind the music or anything.

If Disney really is making this an ongoing thing perhaps they will figure out ways to make it look good, especially with all the refurbs coming up

Those are actually two of the ideas being bounced around for the next version that will replace ElecTRONica. The intent is to have everything hidden during the day. This is not essential for the current theming, which is a studio backlot, but it will be essential to the DCA 2.0 theming, which is a 30's-40s era Hollywood enjoying its golden age.
