I'm one of those people that loath it's appearance every year. But I can appreciate what TDA is trying to do every year. And it works with the crowds, so everyone is happy.

Aside from us HM purists .

I'm a big fan of the overlay. It is great example how they can take an existing attraction and change it up for the season but not ruin it overall.

It'd be nice if they kept it the way it is thru Halloween. I mean, Haunted Mansion and Halloween go hand in hand. I can understand using the overlay AFTER Halloween, since that is officially when the Christmas season begins, but why not keep the original thru Halloween? Halloween is supposed to be scary/fun, and the original Haunted Mansion is exactly that. Besides, the overlay is all about Jack trying to create his own Christmas (the movie's even called "The Nightmare Before CHRISTMAS"). I understand that he lives in Halloweentown, but the whole ride is haunted Christmas Carols and Christmas decorations and all that sort of stuff that just doesn't go along with the Halloween.

Just keep it the way it is thru Halloween, that's all I ask.

I really never could stand this change. It always looks so cheaply done with the cotton snow everywhere and the pumpkin heads that were just stuck over the singing busts.

I couldn't agree more. The overlay seems to be much more about Christmas than Halloweeen. The perfect solution, to me, would be to leave the HM alone through Halloween, then shut it down and they'd still have time to get the overlay up by Thanksgiving. That way the HM stays in classic mode for Halloween AND isn't unavailable for nearly half the year.

I always thought of the movie as being equal parts Halloween and Christmas.

As much as I enjoy the overlay I would really like to see something a little new with it. Maybe add some new characters?

In fact it is! I don't have personal prefrences of when HMH opens for the holidays, but I wouldn't mind if the original HM or the overlay is operational during HalloweenTime.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Haunted Mansion Holiday. I think ideally if Disney had a completely separate area for Nightmare Before Christmas, that would be ideal.

Doing this to the classic, original Haunted Mansion just seems a little...weak?
