Does anyone have feedback on Disneyland park tours?

My wife and I will be visiting DLR in early December. We were thinking about doing one of the guided tours - we have not done any of them, although we have visited DL multiple times on our own.

Does any one have any feedback / advice about the various tours? Being big fans of Walt, we were looking at the "A Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour, but being there during Holiday Time, we were also looking at the "Holiday Time at Disneyland" tour.

Any feedback or experiences people have had would be greatly appreciated - maybe some of the other tours are more enjoyable still. Thank you.

I feel the tours are wonderful! Surprisingly the same two tours you mention are the only ones that I have been on. I went on the "A Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour in 2003 and the "Holiday Time at Disneyland" tour in 2005. They were both well worth the cost and I learned a lot about the park.

If you are serious about taking tour in December, I would recommend the holiday tour. If you come back to the park later you can always take the footsteps tour. You'll not only enjoy the tour but get VIP seating at the Christmas parade along with a sweet treat and hot chocolate in a souvenir mug. Wonderful memories!! Whatever you choose to do, happy holidays and have fun!!

I did the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour in 2005. Loved it! It was totally worth it and was an experience I will always remember. I might look into the holiday tour when I'm there in December, it sounds great!

I've been on the Walk in Walt's Footsteps, the Holiday, and the Halloween tours, and all of them were terrific. They each have little perks that add to their value - with the Walt tour, you can visit the lobby of Club 33 and enjoy lunch in the Tour Garden; the other two tours include escorted visits to some very busy attractions and little extra treats like souvenirs and reserved parade seating. The tour guides themselves are always knowledgable and enthusiastic; the Halloween tour has more of a story and "acting" to it.

I did the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour in May. I thought it was just okay. The only things I think you get to do that the public doesn't is see the Club 33 lobby and stay five minutes longer in the Tiki Room to see an original AA flower. We went on the Railroad, Jungle Cruise, watched a Tiki Room show and pretty much just walked around for the rest of the time. You are given a pair of headphones and you listen to a lot of audio from Walt himself which is a nice touch. However, I don't feel like I learned much if anything I didn't already know from books or online reading. My tour guide seemed pretty new and didn't seem comfortable going off script if you asked her questions.

I'm not suggesting that it is not worth the money. It just depends who you are, what you already know about Disneyland, and what you're hoping to get out of it. I'd still consider doing another tour that focused less on history.

The only tour I did was one for the 50th and I loved it. Been meaning to do another one, but between budget and just plain old forgetfulness I haven't. I have heard that the Holiday Time tour is a good one. I would highly recommend taking one. :-)

My opinion is that you would like any of the tours if you're prepared to like them.

Re: Does anyone have feedback on Disneyland park tours?

I've taken three of the tours, "Walk in Walt's Footsteps", Christmas tour, and Happiest Haunts Tour. Obviously, I'm a big disney dweeb, and I love to experience anything new and different at DL and DCA, as well as some of the other special events that DL holds.

If you already know a lot about Walt and DL, dont' go in expecting to hear a lot of new things on the Footsteps tour, however I have enjoyed it both times I took the tour. Why did I take it twice? Well, the first time I took the tour was in the lat 90's, and over the years, they have changed it up, so I thought it worth taking again. This tour is pretty much offered all year round (but of course check with guest services for exact days and time, as occassionally, they fill up.

Which tour would I recommend? Well, that depends on a few things, how often you visit DL and the time of year you visit the DLR.

The best basic tour is the Footsteps Tours, so I would suggest that. HOWEVER, since that is a year round tour, and if you want to experience at least two of the tours, if your next trip is during Christmas or Halloween, I would say take advantage of those tours, as they are limited to just a few weeks on the calendar. If you aren't at DL during Christmas or Halloween, then take the footsteps tour.

There is a rumor that they are changing up the Happiest Haunts Tour this year, so I can't wait to hear what the new tour is like.

Regardless of which tour I've taken, the cast members have all been great, (although some more knowledgeable than other.) I think the tours are a bit pricey, but they are worth doing once in a great while, as a special treat.

Re: Does anyone have feedback on Disneyland park tours?

I did "A Walk in Walt's Footsteps" Tour with my boyfriend and another big Disney fan - we all had a great time! The CM tour guide we had knew a lot of trivia which I personally did not know (granted, my knowledge is more focused on Disneyland than the man who created it). Anyhow I really enjoyed myself and felt that the tour was worth every penny that I paid for it. If you go, make sure you get Walt's Chili!

My boyfriend treated me to the Halloween tour as a birthday present last year. We both absolutely LOVED it! I've been dying to try another one, but haven't managed to fit one in. I would totally recommend taking one if you can schedule it!

Re: Does anyone have feedback on Disneyland park tours?

I would love to do one but am not sure the rest of the family would. Do they generally fill up or could I book last minute if the opportunity arose? And would the Halloween one be of interest to a nine year old?

I'm really intrigued by the Halloween tour since I will be there during that time. Any other details regarding that tour would be greatly appreciated.
