I asked a CM last night, and he indicated that the Starcade should be return to its full glory within a month or so. I for one can't wait, the air-hockey table is just too awesome to not be there!

The full glory meaning the upstairs part too? Now that would be cool, and would bring back a lot of memories from my childhood.
Don't I wish, lol. At the very least, the merchandise should be pushed back out of there![]()
Of everything in DL, Starcade is what NDJnr is most excited about!
(How depressing is that!)

if it must be there, can it at least be Flynn's Arcade? otherwise I see no reason to have OLD arcade games in TOMORROWland
Eagerly awaiting DCA to finish the revamp!
Check out my new blog. I am using it as a way to provide Disney NEWS, some rumors, and some commentary. I am also providing Stargate News on the same blog. http://wraithkelso.blogspot.com/
Well...it has the star trek game, that's pretty "tomorrow" themed, right?![]()
For those of us who remember how flipping awesome the place used to be (and obviously when the second floor was open) it's not depressing whatsoever.
Edit to add -- I didn't read your subsequent posts. While the child in me may not be depressed, the adult in me certainly also hates departing with coinage when DIP Jr enters similar arcades as well.

Meh, I have an Xbox360 at home... I don't go to Disneyland to play video games. Does remind me of when I went to Disneyland for my 7th grade class trip and they had Mortal Kombat II (blood turned off) at the Penny Arcade though. Kinda funny in retrospect.
I've always thought an arcade was not a very good fit there. Not just in Tomorrowland, but in Disneyland in general. I suppose I understand the nostalgia it would hold for some people though. I feel like if TDA spent some time re-imagineering Pizza Port, the Starcade, and EO, they could make a pretty nice "hot spot" over in TL. Whether that be simply adding some really intense thematic elements or completely redesigning the whole area... Like most of TL, it needs some TLC anyway.

Back in the 90's I loved the arcades. When I was a CM, there were times after my shift, I would enter the park just to play at the arcades.
In Critter Country, there was a small arcade where they had a quick draw game. It played a movie, and you had to draw the gun from the holster and shoot before you were shot. I think the Penny Arcade on Main Street had the same or similar game too.
In Tomorrowland there was a flight simulator game. This one had a ball you sat in, and as you turned the plane in game, the ball moved around with you. So as you clombed, the ball would tilt back, go down and it would tilt forward, ect. The game was shooting down enemy jets. It was hella fun. Almost got sick a couple of times. But it was fun.
I felt funny to do many rides while alone in the park after my shift, but I had a good time in the arcades. There were games in the 3 arcades (Main Street, Critter and TL) I played.
Before I worked there, I never went to the arcades at Disney, I could go to arcades at the mall, why spend time at Disney's arcades. But if they had large enough games and since the mall arcades are dying out, the Arcades may be popular again.
EDIT: Lookie what I found! This was one of the games, I forget if it was the Main Street or Critter Country, but one of the two.
Looking at the video, it feels like yesterday, not 15 years ago.

I personally think the space could be used for better things. You can now have a game system at home, a hand held game system (Ninteno etc) or your phone now offers games.
Once they closed the second level, the area went down hill (in my opinion).
Tomorrowland really needs some major TLC. If that TLC included the arcade not returning, I think it would be a positive for the park.

Wait it was closed? Seriously it was closed??? Are they theming it to the arcade from Toy Story?
I like Flynn's Arcade because there is theming involded with the movie and 80s. Starcade just feels like an arcade at a mall on the shady part of town.
Will it be open within the month of September? I will be there basically the whole month of september and will be heartbroken if starcade is closed!!!
Oh and yes I remember the second floor. I loved it with two floors, a lot more games to choose from.. Oh and I always felt so cool going up the escalators when I was younger.
