Sickout on Christmas day?

With all the labor problems at Disneyland does anyone think a sickout might be possible?

well, if then loose most of their cast...then maybe they will look at things from another angle....or they will compensate their cast....it would be the perfect week to do it in. It is one of the busiest.

A sickout on Christmas?!? This is such a bad idea I can't believe it was even brought up. Obviously the CMs that have posted clearly think its a terrible idea, too. Good for them.

I think that it is sad that anyone has to work on Christmas. I know that it means different things to different people, but ALL businesses should think of thier employees and be closed for the day.

To me, it's a day to spend with friends, family and loved ones...(and I know, some folks want to spend Christmas day at DL with their friends, family and loved ones. But that is another subject)

If I'm not mistaken, Christmas Day is the busiest day of the calendar at the Magic Kingdom. Does this apply to Disneyland as well? If so, PirateMickey, just the sound of the cash registers cancels out your post. Well for Disney anyway, I agree with what your saying personally.

What about those of the Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Greek Orthodox or Bhuddist faiths, among a myriad of others, that do not celebrate Christmas? Disneyland is not just for Roman Catholic people who celebrate Christmas.

I even know some who want to work, due to making double time on that day.

Yes, it would be nice for everyone to be home with family, but that assumes that everyone thinks of the holiday in the same way.

And if people call off, no one suffers except the patrons who do go. The Walt Disney Company may get a few more complaints, but think of the Guest who save up for a year or more for a special vacation at Disneyland. And then they find out that the lines are longer or stores are closed because Cast Members decide not to show up.

They can take it off if they want. They likely get paid 1.5 or 2 times their normal wage, so they make the choice.
Also, some people like to give on Christmas. In this case, it's to give people an open Disneyland on Christmas. is it wrong to give, and to such a good cause?

No, it doesn't. There are at least two other days worse. Reason: It's Christmas, a day to stay at home with family, so most people who could go generally don't. Well, maybe after present-opening and before dinner-eating. For the MK at WDW, most guests are on vacation, with nowhere else to go and a parkhopper pass in hand.

It's somewhere between third and ninth on the DL calendar. This year, it might be no better than fourth:
1. NYE.
2. 7-4.
3. 7-17.

I still don't get the problem with expecting employees to come to work when scheduled. I don't know of a single (customer service) employeer that lets employees show up late, call in sick as often as they want etc.

Eh, I don't mind working on Christmas Day. It's one of the biggest attendance days of the years, because people come to Disneyland to spend time with their friends, family, and loved ones.

There are also the CM's who opt to work during the Holidays because they themselves are away from their families. So they figure "Why not spend them making other families happy and enjoy their time?" Those are the CM's I Love to work with.
