What do you think the energy bill is every month for Disneyland?

It's got to be so much.

That's really interesting. I could only imagine. Maybe they have a deal with the county or something?

Funny you should ask. We were there Wednesday when it was 104 degrees and I was thinking that exact same thing! It has got to be astronomical...unless they have some solar going on.

I know that our utilities here in Anaheim are cheaper because of Disneyland..

They own energy though so it's allllll free

I thought they generate some of their own power? Either way, when you think about one simple area like power, Disneyland is a deal.

Old rumor is that the first 23,000 people that pay for entry, cover the costs to run Disneyland for the day. And that includes all overheard.

    After that, just profit.

Could be wrong, but who knows?

With the power, they have light on 24 hours a day. Once the park or attraction closes, they turn off the show lights, but then they turn on the work lights. Some rides are brighter when the park is closed then when it's opened.

    It's amazing... Disneyland never sleeps.

I doubt they use much solar... we'd see the panels if they did.

However, they would almost certainly have their own generators. I doubt the Anaheim grid of 1955 was ready for that kinda load, and it would be cheaper than buying off the grid.

Electricity is far cheaper then gasoline to generate it. That's why all large scale power generation is with other fuels. Anaheim has it's own electric utility, but at the time DL was built was buying power from others.

remember those high power lines everyone hates in the old parking lot? anaheim had juice.. it would have been a requirement for selecting the site.

I work at a facility with similar power requirements, and we have generators. To power DLR completely on their own they would probably need a nuclear reactor.

Interesting question, and it comes about at the same time that I am about to hire both a heating contractor, and an electric contractor for my attic remodel.

Perhaps google could tell us the answer.

Well, I live in SoCal, and my bill averages about $125/mo. So I'm going to say more than $125/mo.

Probably about $1300. You figure the parks are about the size of 10 houses (5 houses each), so 10 x $130 = $1300.
