Re: Does anyone else think this use of Walt image is in poor taste?

Whether the use of his image is considered tacky or not, the hat itself is just plain ugly. It sits there on the shelf saying, "I dare you to buy me."

I would really like to meet the person that buys this and find out what went through their head when they made the purchase. The next question I would ask them is what institution they escaped from.
"You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer."

It's not in poor taste. It's a retro style. It reminds me of some of the old, old baseball cards from when Disneyland was brand new, or just a concept. That said, I don't care for it, particularly on the hats. It looks less awful on the shirts.

Baseball cards, no. Garbage Pail Kids would be more like it.

Is the hat trying to say that Walt Disney was a mouse?

Yes, I know the line is a quote from Walt. But if someone has never heard the quote before, would they read this hat as claiming Walt was a mouse?

By the way, the Garbage Pail Kids cards were funny... I still have a stack of about 200 of them.

Re: Does anyone else think this use of Walt's image is in poor taste?

Personally, I don't think it's in poor taste using his image. However, it doesn't change the fact that the hat is definitely "fugly" no matter which way you look at it. I'm sure there are a handful of people who did buy the hat, but it's poorly designed.

Looks like a patch that was just thrown on... and the patch itself looks like it says "IT WAS ALL I started by A MOUSE". Not to mention that the three different fonts are tacky since they don't even look like three different patches... looking at it again it's almost creepy... like a ransom note. But that's probably because I watched a few thrillers last night.

Personally, I wish the Quiksilver and Roxy stuff was replaced by Quiksilver+Disney products. I would totally buy that, but that would probably add 20% to the already "expensive" surf brand. Most men's Disney shirts are boxes with holes in them, and not form fitting in any way so I can't really justify buying them. I'm not saying the shirts need to be skin tight like an Affliction shirt, but just something a little better cut like American Apparel? My $0.002

Disney trying to be hip plays like the sludge at the bottom of the Main Street Corn Dog Cart fry vat after a long summer day.

Really, Tom Staggs should wear one of those hats the next time he takes a stroll around the Park. Betcha bucks to butts he doesn't, though. Too bad. Might help him have another of those Gen-U-Ine Walt Visions, like the one he had while gazing on the Carsland construction.

    "I see it! AvatarLand!"

Flashforward 25 years, they'll be selling equally pukesome hats with Staggs' picture on it, and the motto "It All Started With a Spreadsheet."
"With the acquisition of Marvel and now of Lucasfilm,
Disney may have finally found the grail. You don't need
imagination or art. All you need is a brand."

This might look decent on a shirt but on a cap it's just...confusing.

Sadly, I don't think that would even work. Remember when they forced the Disney T-shirts and merchandise that said "Disney Parks", and no one bought that merchandise . . . . Unforntunately the inventor of that failed lame idea is still in a way too high position within the Disney company.

I like to give things the benefit of the doubt, but I don't think that logo would even look good on toilet paper.

I do not think it would look that bad as a silk screen on a tshirt.

Perhaps it might not be that bad If we had more pictures of Walt and his quotes around. Perhaps it might not be such a bad idea for the big wigs to be reminded of Walt and his philosphies Each day.

    Walt Quotes such as:

"Your dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway."

"Disneyland is a work of love. We didn't go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money."

"Disneyland is the star, everything else is in the supporting role."

    "Disneyland is a show."

"I don't want the public to see the world they live in while they're in the Park (Disneyland). I want to feel they're in another world."

    "Disneyland is a show."
