Question WDI: How much Design/Creative work takes place in Orlando?

The thread title says it all: I was just thinking about the branch of Imagineering in Orlando and realizing I have no idea what they do. Does all or most of the creative/design work of Walt Disney Imagineering happen in Glendale or does a sizable amount of it happen in Orlando as well?

I have no idea. I think the lion's share is done in Glendale. I remember at the D23 convention seeing video of the Dwarfs Mine Ride carts being tested in a parking lot. Even though this ride is destined for Florida, the San Gabriel Mountains looming in the background of the video shows that the cars are being designed and tested in Glendale.

That's what I was picturing, but of course I have no idea. What kind of presence does Imagineering have in Orlando, then? Show writers? Project managers?

I know events (parties etc) go through WDW.
It also FEELS like a lot of merch goes through WDW too.

To that end I'd like the Internet community to join me in reminding the Disney company that "it all started with Walt." As you can see below we've created some T-shirts, plus a few simple graphics that you can copy and paste into your websites to let folks know how you feel.

WDI in Orlando does not do a whole bunch. They primarily work on small resort enhancement projects or sometimes new entertainment offerings are developed out of Orlando. It's pretty much WDI's "in-th-field" office. The reason Disneyland doesn't have an "in-the-field" office is because of it's close proximity to Glendale. Almost all major creative, design, development, and testing work is all based out of Glendale.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

The bulk of the design and imagineering is done on this forum.

^^Really necessary? I think the Meg Crofton thing is getting a little old...

Like others have said from what I understand Orlando is basically a on site office that takes part in little of the design elements of WDI. Glendale does most of the design and testing.

No, its really not, especially if you really know her impacts on that resort as a whole.

No, Bronco is right. The whole Meg Crofton thing IS old. VERY old and highly unnecessary.

I know there's a WDI office in Orlando, but I'm not sure what they do. In my opinion everything comes out of Glendale. And I've never seen a WDI job/internship posting for Orlando
