When are they going to start building the esplanade fountain?

I remember seeing concept art with a large fountain in the middle between DL and DCA. Does anybody know when exactly they plan on doing this.

Also I think when they do they should do a fountain like the one at the ARIA casino entrance. Very beautiful fountain and would look amazing in that area.

This was a rumor started by Al about a year or so ago.

No concept art has been released depicting this fountain.

Currently, Espplenade modifications are still in the very early blue sky stage. At present, there are no firm plans for a fountain, or anything else in the Esplenade. My guess is that the Imagineers will decide what they want to do in the Esplenade once Phase 1 of DCA 2.0 has wrapped up. In other words, don't hold your breath. You're not going to see any major changes to the Esplenade for at least 2 years or more.

Though I do like the idea of a fountain, that disgusting "Let the Memories Begin" float needs to go first...

Either more trees or a fountain in the middle would be nice.
On hot days it would make it feel like less hot. It's also not so magical in this area.

I'm not sure about the fountain in the video.
Looks a little large for the area.

Trust me, this area is not magical at all, I rush through it as every time I walk through it it seems someone is vomiting...
A lot more shade would be nice, as well as a fountain, I am sure they could manage both...

I think that ugly Memories structure in the middle of the esplanade is there not only just for marketing purposes. I think it is there so Disney can get an idea of how a fountain of that size would fit into the area and to see if it would disrupt traffic at all.

And to be honest, I think the esplanade is definitely a magical place. It is a gathering spot, and Southern California lacks way too few gathering places for its general population. I suppose the beaches serve that purpose, which may be why this deficit exists. But this space where people are milling around and walking to and fro is a wonderful space that you don't get to experience that much of in the general area.

I can't say for sure, but I have it on good authority that you're more right than not ;-)

As much as a lot of folks here don't like it, it's a very popular picture spot for tourists. I can't cross the Esplenade without getting stopped at least once and asked to take a photo. Personally, I was never a fan of the old open esplenade. I like what they've got not much better than before. It gives the esplenade some scale and focus, rather than just being a long stretch between two parks. I'm still nto sure why Disneyland doesn't say "Disneyland" on its entrance.

Oh, btw, look for new signeage coming soon. There are a few places in the Esplenade that are already home to new ground supports. You should see new additions to the esplenade soon. One thing the Esplenade needs os digneage to direct you to either park. Believe me, guest relations on both sides gets a difinitive number of people coming through the turnstiles, who, upon entering the park, realize they entered the wrong park.

The artwork depicting a fountain does exist, but is old and related to the original plans for the building of the second gate, not the current work.

Work on the esplanade may hinged on future foot trafic flows. Will M&F and TS lots max out next summer and put more force on developing the Pumba lot? What if Anaheim suddely starts digging at the train station, and they build a tram from the near the Angel's stadium?

Yeah, for those reasons, I honestly don't see a renovation to the Esplenade until the current Pumbaa Lot is replaced with a permanent parkign structure. This is still years away, although it is on the list of things to do.

I think it could definitely work well, but with the fountain already by the bag check, could it be overkill on the waterworks? Just a thought. That being said, anything that deters people from camping out there and becoming human speed bumps during the fireworks is aces in my book. It's too difficult to get around them when trying to cross parks on the busy days.

I see no need for the entrance to say "Disneyland". Already says it on Main Street station.

If it improves guest service, then there should be signeage. I've never been convinved that the Main Street Station sign is easily visible to a first-time visitor who has never set foot in Anaheim before. Yeah, it's visible, but not necessarily easily visible. When you're a newbie, your eye doesn't automatically go to the Main Street Station first. With two parks a stone's throw from each other, signeage BEFORE YOU ENTER THE PARK is reasonable. It certainyl wouldn't detract from the entrance (given that there originally was signeage outside the entrance).

It's never been a problem before.
