Oscar may be the most famous CM. I've seen him often but I am usually more pleased to see him than the famous Maynard.

I have heard from a few people who regularily dine at the CC that he said he will be retiring very soon. Maybe when CC closes in the coming weeks or after helping open JHB.

Understandably Chef Oscar has given us more than enough of great service, but I hope this service party is not also an retirement party.

I spoke to him on Monday, he was talking about the party on Friday and said jokingly he hopes they aren't kicking him out. He laughed. He's very much looking forward to the party. He really is one of the best things about Disneyland. Wonderful man.

    Was it a private party?
Man, Oscar is so darn nice! I always thought my family was special, but I guess not! He loves us all! He gave us the potato soup recipe a while ago- that was awesome.
Anyways, neat article. Thanks for sharing. Prayers go out to him and his wife.

They apparently covered the party on the KABC 7 News (LA) at 4pm! I'm still watching, they haven't shown it yet, but they made mention of featuring Disneyland's longest running cast member and they showed a picture of Oscar. He is always so nice, and yes, he keeps saying he's retiring soon, but always seems to stay...guess he loves us all too much!!

What a fun tribute! I've never eaten at Carnation Cafe - not sure why I haven't - but how fun to meet him and know him! Bravo!

Oscar embodies the qualities of the best cast members. But he's not the only one with Disneyland warmth and goodness in his heart. A lot of them show the right stuff. They are all just part of the magic that is Disneyland. One of the best things to do at Disneyland is enjoy breakfast at the Carnation Cafe. There is nothing like sitting there on the patio watching the music and magic of Main Street come to life as the park fills up with happy people.

where is he usually located? my family and I would love to meet him.
"Whether in his movies or in his theme parks, Disney always promised a fantasy in which one could exercise the privileges of childhood - privileges he never abandoned in his own life. This will to power took the inanimate and brought it to life, or the illusion of like. In animation one could exercise the power of a god." - Neal Gabler, writer-'Walt Disney, The Triumph of The American Imagination'

He walks around the Carnation Cafe during the breakfast hours. However, since the Carnation will be closing for expansion, he will be located at the Jolly Holiday Bakery until the renovations are complete.
