    New Tomorrowland Attraction?

Have you heard the latest venture for Richard Branson?

    http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/space/1....ap/index.html

He's looking to build space port out of New Mexico, how about one for Tomorrowland, DLR?

This could be the "new" Star Tours!

    WOW!!

    I applaude Richard Branson's ambition!

But I just wished he thought of doing this on the "Sausalito" side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

I also applaud Branson's ambition, but what I'm really looking forward to is the space elevator. Riding rockets into space is too expensive for the average person to experience unless they're very, very lucky. Riding a space elevator would be much cheaper, perhaps even eventually within reach of you or I. Can you say Disney Space Resort?

I think that depends on who's building it. Give it to someone the likes of Richard Branson, expect a timeline. Give it to the government...well, I think you all know that answer to that one.

    Re: New Tomorrowland Attraction?

I've heard that the technology for a space elevator could be developed within 10 years. The major obstacle is developing a material with the tensile strength to withstand the tension between the Earth and the counterweight.

In the meantime, I've always thought it would be cool if Disney could develop a space elevator simulator ride, using a ride system similar to the Tower of Terror, though I imagine it would have to be much taller.
