Both. Because Veterans Day is the 11th and falls on the weekend it's observed on Monday the 12th. So it will be busy on the 12th and very much not busy on the 13th.

The best time is going to be early on Friday the 16th. Try to get in the most popular things that morning.

The weekend will be a bit busier than a typical weekend as vacationers show up. Monday will also be very busy because many people take Thanksgiving week off for longer DLR visits. Prepare for crowds.

I'd guess the variety in crowds was due to what days Christmas or New Years Day happened. If they are later in a week it can puch Christmas breaks back.

This year it will be busy on the weekend when the Holiday entertainment is going on, then absolutely quiet on the weekdays.

Make sure you get Big Thunder Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, Mark Twain riverboat full circle tour on the Disneyland Railroad(Primeval World will be tarped off), Silly Symphany Swings, and Grizzly River Run in on the weekend, they all start refurbs on Monday. If these attractions are part of your visit do them first, leave anything else for the dead weekdays.

Don't worry too much. If you start on Saturday the 5th it will be very busy since it's the last weekend of the Holiday Season, the end of a vacation period for some and a weekend. On Monday the 7th the crowds will drop to almost nothing.

Enjoy the holiday offerings and rides that will close after on the weekend, and everything else with tiny wait on the weekdays.

I want to do a Friday-Sunday trip on one of the following weekends.

Dec 7 - Dec 9
Dec 14 - Dec 16

What's the best weekend crowds wise? I know none of them are going to be great, but is there a sweet spot in there?

I was thinking this weekend (nov 16-18) but the hotels are BOOKED so that has scared me off.

Very very busy. Everyone has that day off school and works so tons of people show up. Plan for huge crowds, show up early, plan to stay late, make using FastPass a priority.

I bet it was. Local APs fill the park after work on Friday night.

Being weekdays I wouldn't worry too much about either. Though if you want really low crowds the first week of December is a great time to visit. The second week is ok.
