Have some issues with the Mad T Party Band Setlist

I was personally very excited about Mad T Party until I saw the audition songs for the band.

    Song List:

I Gotta Feeliní (Black Eyed Peas)
    Sir Duke (Stevie Wonder)
    Donít Stop Believiní (Journey)
    Shout (The Isley Brothers)
    Hot Hot Hot (Buster Poindexter)
    We Will Rock You (Queen)
Please Donít Stop The Music (Rhianna)
    Locomotion (Little Eva)
    Call Me (Blondie)
    Get The Party Started (Pink)
    Dancing Queen (ABBA)
    American Woman (Lenny Kravitz)

Is it just me or is Disney REALLY missing the mark here? Instead of doing something truly original, they are going to trot out the same 10 overplayed wedding/glee type songs.

I mean, first issue, how can you have a "Mad T Party" without having Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" in the mix? Even one of the more recent updates like the one below:

To not have more of a "psychedelic" mix of songs, why even bother going with the Mad T Party theme?

Some songs that I think should be included:

Are you Experienced - Jimi Hendrix
Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles
    Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd

Maybe some stuff from The Doors, Grateful Dead, etc.

I mean, it's an "adult" party, it's being marketed that way.

Heck, even some modern "remixes" of these songs would be better than the crap they want.

Anybody else have any suggestions for different songs we can send to Disney?

They definitely missed the park. I wasn't even born when half those songs came out.

Don't forget: I am the Walrus - the Beatles

    No, those songs...just...no.

I agree on the suggestions you've made. If they're trying to do something groovy and psychedelic, they should have those 1960s names there: The Beatles ("I am the Walrus" or "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" maybe?), the Mamas and the Papas, Cream, Iron Butterfly, Jimi Hendrix, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Animals, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, et al. Maybe some more contemporary stuff that is also quirky: the B-52s (not Love Shack; their early stuff that is loopy and fun), Dee-Lite, etc. There are so many choices.

I could also see the T Party having a sort of goth vibe to it; for that they could add songs by Bauhaus, The Cure, Siouxsie, Sisters of Mercy, et al...there are a lot of songs that are 'clean' enough to be at DCA.

There are so many possibilities; but this proposed set list isn't hitting any of them. Who wants to go to DCA to hear the same songs the DJ would play at a wedding or school dance?

I still think this song would be the perfect opening to the event

    and also have this one

both songs in the official Alice in Wonderland soundtrack. Love White Rabbit, and the other songs listed, they really are missing the mark here!

Re: Have some issues with the Mad T Party Band Setlist

I've been to a lot of weddings in my time and the only song on that list I've heard that are "standard" at weddings is "Shout". I have never heard any of the others at a wedding. But some of those songs have come out since the last wedding I went to. But I know I've never heard "Sir Duke", "Call Me", "We Will Rock You", "Dancing Queen" or "American Woman" (BTW the original artist was The Guess Who... Lenny Kravitz's version is a cover of it).

Anyhow, I do think that setlist is kind of "meh" though. Since this "street party" is based on Alice in Wonderland, which is pretty trippy no matter what interpretation you read/see, they should totally go with something more psychedelic. I like a lot of what Malina suggested, especially the "goth" aspect of it (I'm a big fan of The Cure and several of the other groups mentioned.... and don't forget Ministry!).

These are just audition songs. It's just a song for the candidate to perform so they can get an idea of what type of vibe and presence is given. It doesn't mean these are the songs set to play. Believe me, in my years of auditions, I've had to sing some pretty lame songs for something completely different.

This set list screams "bat mitzvah" to me.

Some GREAT choices here (I've bolded my favs ... which I think was all of them ). I mean, take some stuff off of the Cure "Mixed Up" album as well. I'd also go ahead and throw Lucious Jackson, maybe even some fun stuff like Aquabats, Weezer, TMBG, etc. Maybe even some Moby or something.

This just screams "lowest common denominator" to me.

I understand this ... but it still points in the direction they are looking at. I wouldn't be surprised if we heard at least 1/2 of these songs at the T party.

First off, those 10 audition songs might seem upbeat and party-like but fall into the category of way over-rated and WAY overused (to me at least).

While I'm not familiar with all of your band suggestions above, the only two cents I could put in is... Think about this when they are selecting the songs - "Would you play this at a party?" meaning whatever it is, i think it should be upbeat, party-feel, and even dancey just a bit. :P
